Thread: Bored? Try the NS Spiderclan Cave :)

I'm speed capped: Elders fall in about 5 minutes for me, groups of mobs fall swiftly with spin2, and i have very little chance of dying in pve.

/yawn

Instead of doing Elders around the stronghold, i decided to check out the NS Spiderclan again. Last time i went there was when they had force powers, and i was a wee TKM.

OMW there i saw a Spiderclan Elder, so thought "let's take her".

85% blast resist heavy armor, and 30 minutes later she fell (crap loot). Still, something different than normal.

Then i hit the cave, pretty cool and atmospheric with webs/glowy stuff. The most interesting thing for me however, was the increased variety of npc.

90% kinetic, 100%blast, 15k mob. Takes longer than you might think to kill

There's a good mixture of different types of NS and it paid off to check their reists out and switch weapons. The "Web Dancers" are 100% blast AND kinetic, so i couldn't kill them at all!

Lots of scary spiders on the way down to the bottom, and at one stage i had 200 mind poison and 400 health poison ticking on me from them (i just ran in to massive groups to spin2), and my ham bars actually moved more than +/- 100!

Then, the piece de resistance, Kin'draay the spider king. First time i've ever come across him, and if you've not seen him yourself get down there for some action! He is MASSIVE.

Not only that, but the ground continuosly shakes and he makes this eery shrieking noise.

I came away satisfied with a PVE combat session that was more challenging than usual, and good fun

Check it out if you've not done it, you just might surprise yourself.

I agree that you have a very nice cave but just to insert a thought.

Did you not feel a bit odd at surviving that cave alone?

Seems that you did not really have any problems save taking longer to kill a few of them and also of course not killing one or two at all ...

What I am after is that some professions really need the combat revamp to be fun to play again. I do not think anyone wants to be so powerful as a master swordsman is now or pikeman for that matter. You can probably add other professions too like combat medic. Where is the fun if you can solo play this game. I can as easily install some old rpg game I have on my shelf and get on with that. Baldurs Gate was fun ... probably will have more fun with that soon than with what SWG is becoming.

I am not ranting on you now.. I am on SOE and I hope you feel the same way.

After all this crap I wrote I also would like to say that this cave is nice .. very nice indeed for the effects and such.

May the force be with you!

I agree to an extent.

Yes, i cleared it with ease, and didn't have any problems with any of the mobs. I found the Kin'draay fight (50k ham medium armor) lasted seconds. When i fought the elder, i just ran my "elder macros" and waited 30 mins - that's not exactly fun.

No, i don't want the ability to solo high-end mobs to disappear. I know this is a multiplayer game, but i like being a loner sometimes.

Combat needs a revamp, there is no doubt about that, but if SOE continue to the schedule they have suggested, we won't see a combat revamp till 2005. I've cancelled both my accounts on the strength of that

I've fought in this cave many times, it is pretty nice. I have never got any loot, or even heard of anyone looting anythign from these though. Has anyone seen or even heard of them dropping anything?

NS Elder in 5min... Even with an Uber Acklay Bone Hammer I find that hard to beleive. Maybe with one of those Legendary Hammers... but I call BS!

Don't be jealous

That's one of my "uber acklay bones". Got a 30%+ slice, and pupped is over 1k max dmg.

5 mins might be a bit optimistic, but it's 5-8mins for sure. Most of the time though, i don't use my acklay hammers for PVE because the condition goes down mega fast.

Kinda splitting hairs though, the point remains the same

Re: the comment about swordsman being too power/devs are a joke. I don't think it's to do with swordsman per se, it's more to do with the armor situation. With my wookiee toon, i could *just* solo an elder with 55% kinetic resist (and master medic stim Es). When i got my zabrak toon, and 80% composite, i can stand toe-to-toe with an elder and my ham won't move. That's nothing to do with being a swordsman.

Problem is this is a once a day spawn at least on tempest - every time I went there someone already had been.

Tried this cave a couple of weeks ago, and didnt get any loot either. I even killed the 100% against blast and kinetic with my acid rifle, and didnt get any loot off her either. Even the piles of bones behind the big, boss spider only had a few random 1 unit stacks of meat and hide. Pretty disappointing, considering there were some fairly tough critters in there to kill and all I came away with was less time on my buffs and a lot of poison.

Guess I should have figured that when I arrived and was the only one there. You can always tell you've found a good cave when there is nothing left to kill, and you see a lot of blue and purple dots camped all over the cave.

It is wrong how easy these things are to solo, but I would much rather they gave them their force powers back, rather thanmaking all the combat classes weaker

^ yep..

if they put the force powers back (are they ever going to bloody fix this....) then you wouldn't find people soloing night sisters / spiderclans nearly as easily.

I'm personally glad there are things like this and will try it out being from england but playing on a US server I took up swordsman because i usually am usuallyforced to play alone and well, no-one does it better than swordsmen For me, swg will probbably always be a single player game
