Thread: Giant Dune Kimogila's??
Best place to find them is down south, between the Imp base and the Volcano.
Definitely solo-able, I've only ever used a PHammer against them. Biggest problem is they have a nasty disease and a fair bit of HAM. Every fight I've had against them I've ended up fully diseased. For instance my mind is 1100, at the end of the fight I'll be at 1099 mind wounds. Not too big of a deal, just make sure your buffs don't drop or your in trouble.
I'd rank them right around a Canyon, maybe a little easier.

I would agree... Soloable, but expect to be diseased by them. And the PH is, I believe, your best bet.

they run alot too, theyll go out of range alot.
I once took out about 12 in a row - managed to find 3 spawns within about 500m of eachother, spawning 6 at each point. I could only take out around 12 or so before they finally wore me down (brandy was wearing off, had no room in stomach for another charge).
I only use a crappy 600 dmg hammer too, but I swing at the cap.
The disease makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. Even if I have 999 wounds on each pool I could still kill one because their damage is stupidly low.

I can kill one in about 60 seconds if it dosnt intimidate, using only headhit3.

I highly doubt it. I'm a master swords/master doctor and it takes me 10 minutes or so to take one down using a 784 with pup hammer. Theres no way you can kill a Giant Dune Kimogila with a 30k + ham bar in 60 seconds and a low quality hammer. The hatchlings, yes, GDK's, no.

Again, I don't think you know what you are talking about. Disease makes a huge difference, which is why I went master doc in the first place. If you are going to spend the afternoon hunting these, you don't want to have to run to get wounds healed after each kill.
Hell, even if it does intimidate, even then it only takes 3-5 minutes.
I'll emphasize again, Disease makes NO difference against GDK's. The only pool that will get you into trouble is mind, and aslong as you have 2 brandies popped at all times, it makes no difference. I've killed many with 999 wounds to each pool.
Btw, why are you wasting an 800 dmg hammer on a GDK?

Can they drop any good loot (whats the purpose of hunting them instead of krayts I mean)?
The ONLY reason to bother with them is for the much coveted Giant Dune Kimogilla Scale, a needed loot component if you want RIS armor. The drop rate is INSANELY low...I have lost count of the number of GDKs (I officialy stopped counting at 50)I have killed and have looted only 2 scales.
As far as the disease goes, I too have mind maxed at 1100 and constantly get 1099 wounds, but with dancer buffs, some brandy/canape, no biggie. Certainly not enough to warrant me wandering off to find healin'.
TKA Med 4 to meditate off all the wounds.

Keeping them from intimidating you will go a long way to killing them quickly. +80K HAM with medium armor and 65% blast/kinetic takes a long time when your damage is gutted from intimidate.
Disease will eventually wear you down. Not necessarily the wounds, but the battle faitgue. I normally have to come in after an hour of so (about the time it takes me to find and kill one spawn of 4 GDK's), when my battle fatigue gets over 800 and I start incurring huge health costs from specials with my power hammer despite full buffs.
