Hello wise veteran swordsman. I have a newb question:
When I'm fighting an NPC who kites (with a pistol or something), how do I stop this? It is extremely annoying to chase 1 NPC around while 4 others blast the crap out of me. Of course, eventually the NPCs stop for a few seconds, I get a few swings in with my fast 2H sword, and they start running again.
This wouldn't bother me too much but:
I eventually want to do PvP, and I have no clue how I am going to kill anyone who uses a ranged weapon. I think a novice marksman can take me out as long as he never stops running away. I'll chase him all over the map and never get to him. There has to be a way to deal with this, otherwise no one would ever pick a mele profession to do PvP with. So, what is the big "idea" that I am missing? What strategy do you use?
I do not want to pick up a ranged profession, as I really like 2H sword, and want my secondary to be master Doc (not to be uber, but just so I can have the title "Professor" :smileywink
.
Thanks in advance!

Lunge 2 works. Also, you could go rifleman to make a nice template, since both attack the mind very good.

Yes, I have ignored lunge1, I didn't think it was that useful.
I didn't want to pick up a ranged profession if I could avoid it as I had my mind set on being master doc/ master sword, and I don't think that leaves many points left over for anything else. Maybe I'll look at doc a little bit and only go up the trees that let me use buffs, because I only really want doc to use and sell buffs.
Thanks for the tip guys!

Just a suggestion....Master Doc.. You wont notice a difference untill you Buff yourself, the extra wound treatment (Buff modifier) helps a ton, and you wont ever have to go looking for a shop that sells Cure state packs (IE Stun, Intimidate, etc). Thats My template, and I love it.

Bah! Wrong thread!
But kiting, yes lunge 1/2 are awesome for it. Terrain negotiation helps a ton as well. /follow will often get you in range quick...Its hot-keyed on my PvP bar
