Thread: Need Advice on Solo'ing

I am going Sworsman / Doc because 95% of my game time is soloing against PvE.

In Doc i am 4 4 4 0

In Sworsmdan I am 0 4 3 3

I buff myself and use+400 brandy (every 15 min).

This gets me to about 3000/3000/1500 HAM with correlating secondaries (I play a Lizard so my mind secondaries are closer to 1200)

I can heal myself for 2000 and am loaded with spice. I can also heal states, extinguidh fires, cure poison and disease.

I was wondering what techniques / tricks / foods some of you elite Swordsman use to solo the big stuff.

I can kill crazed geno's till the cows come home, but unless I have some help, a single enhanced kwi will take me out. Also, 99% of my incap time is due to Mind damage (from my specials as well as the mobs).

I know one thing would be to get a mind buff, but I would prefer to actually solo, not have to rely on anyone.

Any advice wold be greatly appreciated.

I use a doubleshot of brandy (+400 or better, 36+ minutes, 49-50 fill) and a single dose of canapes (+600 or better, 9-10 minute, 33-38 fill)with muon for emergencies. Even with only 0-1-0-0 Medic most often it's mind I need to look out for, so I find that works—I can fight for about a full doctor's buff duration before I need to rest and let things digest so I can start all over again.

I know Trandoshans can wear some pieces of armor, so get some good composite armor, with good resists, sliced, and then, if you could, try to get a mind buff, it helps tremendously. Your mind when you are fighting you said is 1500, mine is close to 3500 when im fighting.

Thanks for feedback.

I am armored to the teeth, 80% kinetic, and I use a 215-395, 2.3 scythe.

I am not up on all the foods, I take it Canapes boosts yer mind.

Does it boost the mind secondaries as well?

Can u take a double shot of it like brandy?

Canape does focus and willpower, so it boosts only the secondaries.
You can double up on these too.

Ok Thanks,

Canapes is on the shopping list. From previous post it appears the good ones will be +600.

Any other mind foods / drugs (besides muon) that people find really useful in PvE. Especially for the Solo-ist going after the big stuff.

I've seen up to about +725, the problem with that batch was that the duration was too short and the filling too high. I'd rather have a +600 14 minute 33 filling canape than a +725 7.5 minute 39 filling…but I usually use +620 10 minute 38 filling or thereabouts.

I don't know the mind costs on scythes, but they are extremely low on powerhammer...maybe you should switch to that. also, intimidate 2 is a great way to lower damage you take, if you want to get master brawler. i have full mind stat migration, and i have no problem at all with dying because of mind, just those damn stun pistols wearing through my ubese.

If you can get around +20 intimidate skill enhancements, which shouldn't be too hard with the warcry/intimidate BE tissues, and the +3 intimidate necklace from the imperial theme park, intimidat1 is just as good as intimidate2, except it doesn't last as long, but that doesn't matter because you can stack it. But, if you're not doing it, you need to be intimidating. It decreases the damage you take by about a half. That combined with COB, and any random melee defense that you can get ahold of should allow you to tank pretty much anything.

As was said, Vangerian Canapes boost only the mind secondaries, and while they can be doubled or tripled I wouldn't recommend it. The duration is low enough that you'll need to eat them fairly regularly, so you'll want to keep your stomache contents low—I eat one at a time so that I can munch a second in direst need and still fight for a good long time (1-3 hours) without running into too many "You are too full to eat that" messages.

Qoute

I can kill crazed geno's till the cows come home, but unless I have some help, a single enhanced kwi will take me out. Also, 99% of my incap time is due to Mind damage (from my specials as well as the mobs).

end

First off, for the kwis, get a hammer. 40% kinetic resist vs 10% blast resist. Buy a few and have them sliced. Then use a speed sliced one until you hit master. Then go with the damage sliced ones.

Second, keep intimidate and CoB going. Makes a huge difference.

Third, like others hae said, doubleshot fo brandy and any other food you can take to boost mind and secondaries. Try to avoid the moun if at all possible.

Fourth, you can try to find someone to make you some melee weapon powerups that have mind cost reduction.

Since mind stat wise I think you lizards are about in the same boat as us (about 500 focus or so ?) if so you might find that instead of canapes you can pick up some Ahrisa, adds about +390 to focus and lasts 40 minutes with a typical filling of 33 so you can take several of them, have 0 mind cost on your specials (thats probably killing you more then them hitting your mind) and have it last as long as your brandy.
