Thread: Why does everyone like the cleaver so much?
It seems really popular, and I don't get it. From what I can tell the two handed curved sword is much better. It's faster and it does more maxdamage. Also, I'm not sure, but I think it's more accurate. So, what's the deal?
Well, I can think of 2 reasons why I personally use it:
1) its not a 2h curved sword and
2) it looks nothing like a 2h curved sword.
P.S.: you ha ve to have been playing a swordsman for a while to get where I'm getting at...
The same question could be asked about the 2 hand curved sword. It seems so popular. Everyone seems to like it. I dont get it. Its min damage is so low and i never get consistant attacks out of it. I die really really fast when using it. I kill my ham pools really really fast when using it. You might want to acctually try using the cleaver first. That is unless youre like 2hand level 4 or someting. But if youre in novice with a few boxes filled, thats when the curved just starts to suck. ALOT. I have my tech line filled and have all the speed mods short of master's and i usually only use my cleaver and power hammer. Cleaver for speed and hammer for damage. The curved sword is mainly when im trying to look like a ninja or something. But i think i wore that look out in the 3 months cleavers werent around.
Im a master swordsman, have been for w long time time, and this is how I break it down
Cleaver - Okay damage, okay speed, but Good Specials usage, for people who want to be able to spam attacks
Curved - Good damage, Great speed, but the high action cost
Hammer - Great damage, alright speed (if you get a good slice), but high health cost
I really dont recommend hammer to those who dont have much speed bonus, My hammer is 3.9 and with my bonus, it's hella fast.
But this is thing, instead of using ONE of these, All 3 work in unison. when fighting, start with what you want to use first, and in example, you start with the curved to get the in the fast hits, and do some Bleeding, or dizzy (your action pool has decresed). Then switch to hammer, give out some Big blows (your health has now decresed) and if they still arnt dead, you can pull out the cleaverm and hit them with all you got, and finish them off. This is just a rough battle, but just the same, when low on hp (or in PVP you know this is what they are going to hit), use curved, low in AP, use hammer (same, in PVP if they take your action) and for overall eveness, use the cleaver. All 3 work in unison.
its because of speed and accuracy caps. the cleaver really sucks until you get finesse 2 and techniques 2, for the +20 in both accuracy and speed. once you get those your swinging both at 1 second (assuming the curved is at 2.6 speed and the cleaver at 3.6), so speed doesnt matter. also, once you get the accuracy boost youll be swinging both at the same accuracy, and nothing will matter really but the ham and the damage.
i have a cleaver, 2.8 118-230, that swings just as fast as my 1.8 62-246 curved, but it generally hits harder. wow, 15 max damage below my curved, but the min is damage is almost double, so its more reliable. plus our specials multiply action the most, and cleavers have lower action cost, and pretty low health and mind. i got a action power up to, and action ham is no problem anymore, even though id rather have a mind powerup, with me being a doctor and all.
and it looks kick ass.....well those are all my reasons.
Its the best looking 2h Sword IMO, atleast until we get the scythe ![]()
I dont use it anymore though, Its displayingon the wall in my housenow. ![]()
#1 Reason
Its shiny! The cleaver actually looks like a true 2 handed sword, but it sucks and it just fills a sword gap...........using the 2 handed sword day in and day out just gets really repetitive so switching to a shiny pretty cleaver is nothing but a change of scenery and nothing more...............
If I am just simply wondering around I use the Cleaver.
Dishai Drisk here. Been doing swordsmen since i have started. I love the 2handed curved. It reminds me of a Katana. I do sword arts in real life, kendo and Iai. But ya gotta have a really good 2 handed curved to kick arse.
Speed 2.6
Dmg: 76-310
low low ham
I kick the crap outta things with it. I have a sucky Cleaver so i dont use it much at all. I need a better power hammer though hehe.
New question: Why isn't anyone at all using the 2 handed axe?
MIN DAMAGE.
if more then anything else it has to be min damage.
the best thing about minimum damage is just that. The higher it is, the more Guaranteed damage you are going to do with your weapon. max damage is great, but you only hit for max about 5 percent of the time. You will always hit for max. Take your hits as min+bonus. Min is just that much better.
ive stated the facts, and i think that you all understand it, sooo... why the questions, unless you argue with my statement, which is perfectly okay.
