Thread: Attention All Swordsman
I am currently Doctor/Pistoleer. I am getting sick and tired of Pistoleer, I do want to become Swordsman.
I see Teras Kasi Masters Killing Master Heavy Swordsman then I see Master Heavy Swordsman killing Teras Kasi Master!
All and all I just don't want to waste my time dropping pistoleer then end up getting it back.
I know that range is a problem to fight in PvP, but I even see experienced Master Heavy Swordsman doing very well and winning in many PvP or Duel battles.
So if you could tell me if it would be smart or a good combo to go Doctor/Master Heavy Swordsman. I do have BUFFS and STIMS mind you.
And also tell me if it isn't a smart combo. Because I do not want to drop Doctor what so ever. The reason for the change from Pistoleer to Master Heavy Swordsman - I have been a Pistoleer for a very long time, and I am getting sick because its not at all a challenge. Master Heavy Swordsman on the other hand is a challenge because it actually takes a brain to fight!
Thanks for your time and patients.

Well that combo has worked very well for Shimond
Whatever happend to Shi? I haven't seen her post in a long time.
you learn very quick that any brawler profession is 10 times more fun than any ranged one.
but you have to adjust and use all your skills to win in pvp.
in pve you are much more powerful imo.
i love doing an area attack and kill 3 tuskens at once, while posture downing 2 more.
Swordman doc is a great combo, and I love playing it in PvE. I freakin' hate pets, this game isn't freakin' **edit**! And I have a hard time seeing how someone could level up faster w/o having doctor as a melee. In PvE, on tougher targets, you will outdamage a TKA - but a TKA will be able to solo longer, and potentially harder stuff because of their ability to attack any health poot and to dizzy/knockdown - attackign w/o being attacked.
In PvP, Swordmen do well (until they nerf bleeds in the next patch). Just slap on a few mind bleeds, as long as you get the bleed on - no matter if they kite you, as long as you can stay alive you will kill them.
I was hunting Dark Troopers at the NPC base on Naboo, and a group of Imps raided, and took out most of my group. I was AFK in another part of the base to come and find all but 2 of my group dead. With my doc buffs, composite armor, and my power hammer, I ran down each one of those suckers (since we were inside), mind bled 'em, and killed 5 of 'em. I eventually got incapped because a BH slapped a mind bleed on me, but they were all dead by that time.
On the other hand, I have been in many situations while outside, the bastards just run, and if I don't have burst run, they'll kite me to death. Versus TK's, if they land that dizzy/knockdown, you will die, and the mind bleed (even if you land it) will be drastically reduced because of their meditation skill.
To be honest, I love sword for it's uniqueness. But right now, and even with the next patch (espeically with the bleed nerf) TKA's are the best melee's out there. In PvP, that they don't have heavy hitting weapons don't matter a hell-of-beans. If they can knock you down - you die.
So really you just gotta ask yourself what you like better, swords or TKA's. But if you want to be an Uber melee - take TKA.
Hello Huan,
I have read many of your posts and i have the upmost respect for your skill and knowledge of the Swordsman. I am a struggling Wookie twohand novice Swordsman. I have one box of finesse skill, as well i am a novice Rifleman. I love being in the heat of battle up close as compared to just knelling from 60m away. The problem I have is that I always seem to get incapped. I dont think I am playing my role correctly, as well as I dont think i have a strong enough understanding of the specials i now have. So I was hoping for some suggestions on great combo specials, under estimated specials,trick-of-the-trade type of advice. Which attacks make Bleed? Should I use my rifle to get a bleed on them, and then which specials do i use to attack the mind. I primarily use my DMG sliced power Hammer, but i do also have speed sliced 2h sword (dont use much, low damage) Am I just screwed because i picked a Wookie? I am sick of getting incapped. I have some medic skill so I can use Stim B's. The problem is I put them in a hotkey slot and then when im in battle i try to use them. The problem is it just seemd to work half the time!!! I am leaving work now so i wont be able to respond to you until tomorrow (friday 8am pst) Any chance your on Flurry? I can be your Padawan Mr Kanobi.....
I think with a little time and practice I can try to figure out a few strategies against TKM and Ranged. I do think in the beginning it'll be extremely annoying and pointless for a 2 Handed to duel. But really if you have the time and patients to think threw a battle plan you will conquer your enemies no matter what profession. Thats my 2 cents on the situation with 2 Handed in PvP.
PvE we have no problem what so ever. We can go as high as 20k as low as 1k damages.
Soon I'll be posting some techniques for the 2 Handed to use to successfully win any duel and time. Time is of the essence. So be patient!
Well I made it, I have done it! I am Novice Swordsman currently 0/0/0/1. I was on Talus and yelling around Duel me and win you will recive 10k! Let me say, my only damage was from my encumbrance. I recently deleted my composite armor from my chest piece being 58% down to 27.8% because of the new decay rates. Oh well, I still rock the duels
I devised a small strategy if you haven't used it already or you know more please add on.
I start the duel 3m away(I have ideal range there). Then I do my mindhit1 and bleed his mind. It takes a few seconds to kick in, but I run behind a wall ora object if there ranged and wait for them to follow me. Then I do headhit1 and incap them. You got it right 2 hits and thats a incap. Regardless of armor. If you have anything to add or a new strategy please add. By the way I dueled TKM's and let me tell you they were sending me tells up the wazo on how I did that.
I have some medic skill so I can use Stim B's. The problem is I put them in a hotkey slot and then when im in battle i try to use them. The problem is it just seemd to work half the time!!!
One suggestion- stims actually take some time to apply, and from what I've seen, the system seems to wait until you're done with special attacks you have going on.
My rule of thumb is that if I'm fighting something I expect to need a stim against, I'll use one special, perhaps two, and then hit the stim before I'm showing a glaring need for it. I find that by the time the stim goes off, I've been hit one or two times more and the stim goes off just as I am encountering a "glaring need" for it.
Once you've got the timing down, you should be okay.
