Thread: Unreliablity of armor concerns. Gorecki please read.
I have been trying to solo extremely tough creatures(8000-10000 HAM) and in a balanced fight (few skill attempt failures on my side) I win .....barely. Lately I have found out what truely determines whether or not I survive that battle. Its that on average one to two hits are COMPLETELY unblock by my armor. Now I wear a full suit of Composite with 31% percent resist in pretty much every statand it cost me way over a 100k for a full suit....why on earth does a creature that hits on avg for 70 (thanks to armor) get to hit for 200-300 (unblocked). Does a 9mm handgun round "occasionally" go through a tank? I found that everytime I died in these one on one situations was due to these unblocked hits......Not to mention if they are intimidated it STILL goes through and does in the 100-200 range. Are the devs aware of this as we swordsman and other Melee combat classes are the ones mainly affected and maybe...JUUUUST maybealot of us dont want to be a creature handler and have there pet soak up the damage.
Some may think whats the big deal.....its one hit and lets just assume it was a critical or the hit was soooo strong it went through the armor. If that is the case then it would be nice to have a message or text stating why it wasnt blocked. I really think a hit not deflected by my composite and blasting me for 1/4 my entire health totalis a little off.Just for example the last time I died (which made me post this) after a lengthybattle easily lasting over16 strikes........I had 320 health 500+ action and 300+mind left, and the creature had apporximately 2000health left. Normally this isnt a problem and I could win this battle....I hit for 600avg against this creature and if luck smiles on me I will be victorious as it only hits for 80 or less usually. Well I recieved a hit for 233 and a hit for 188 to my health which killed me (I got in one hit which dropped it to about 1380 health). This scenario has played out many many times and I just want to know if its dev intent , random generation, bug with armor or what. I would prefer to do stuff myself and not rely on pets or exploits and tricks to accomplish things and this definitely hampers that. Appreciate your speaking up for us Gorecki and keep up the good work!
Well....i don't know too much about armor...i don't use any...
I only remember my bounty hunter hunting buddy say once that his new composite armor he saved alot of money for didn't seem much better than his old bone armor...went as far as askin me if i knew a tailor cause he had enough of it......
Anyway.....i hope we will get some more comments about it in this thread...
Meanwhile we are kinda stuck for a little while i guess....our mail went only recently out and additional mails regarding the state of the correspondents program remained unanswered....
Apparently Blair is chasing up teams and taken things in hand.....thats what Holo said last in a post 2 daysago or so about this issue....
That's unfortunately all i know....but i will stay close to the matter.
Meanwhile please keep posting your issues...
Have a successful day
Gorecki
Darkbane, when something hits you, it hits a random area of your body. I'm not sure where, but there's some location where we don't have armor. I actually think it's probably the shirt or belt or something ridiculous like that. Unfortunately, we can't know for sure because it doesn't tell us where we're hit unless our armor absorbs it.
I've definitely experienced this same thing, but I just figured it was part of the game. Honestly, if a fight comes down to 1-2 hits going through your armor, you're fighting stuff that's a little too tough to solo. Get a medic to come with you and you won't have any problems, and less downtime to boot.
Good points Nagorak, and I think something as little as stating the location being hit would go a loooong way towards explaining why this happens. I thought it was just part of the game myself till I wondered well if nobody mentions it.....nothing ever will be done anyway.
I have gone out with 3-5 person hunting parties and have died fighting higher level creatures because of two of these hits back to back and either healing lag (get healed riiiiight after I drop) or just simply too much damage is done too quickly. I mean the worst I can remember is 233 then a 250 back to back. I dont know about you guys but I only have 1000 health....after getting hit in the sub 100's routinely, the medic was not ready for such a drastic damage increase especially when we are fighting two enemies and they were healing others too.
SeriouslyNagorak I dont think we should have to find a medic tohunt with usor "go creature handler", We shouldn't have to just accept occasional massive hits while heavily armored as part of the fight game and move on. They should explain why this happens or address it. It can't be that hard for the Devs to look into.
However, far from being invincible, nightsisters hit for 800, ouch ...
Well...one thing I'd recommend is to increase your health to 1200, since it may make the difference in tight situations. I agree with you some explanation is needed.
Hi,
AsI intend to post at another post, I don't broke much with realism in a game, especially with a game based on a sci-fi/fantasy movie, but disregarding that, body armour is much much different than a tank. Your personal armour allows you for great mobility, ie your limbs and body can move freely, thus if you take a massive strike against your head, your head will fly backwards at tremendous speeds relative to your body causing large damage to your neck muscles and bones, possible permanent paralysis of the lower extremitise (aren't you glad this is a game). Unless you're in a suit that completely restricts your movement, it can't help that damage. Other than that, yeah, in context to the game, better armour should be better protection, just pointing out that the '9mm vs a tank' argument isn't justified in this case, plus no way you have 10-30cm steel armour plating!
