I was just wondering if going swordsman/rifleman would be a good idea. What do you think?

Um. Honestly what's the point? Both professions deal consideral mind damage, the only real difference, besides the range thing, is the fact that Swordsman don't eat their mind to beat heck trying to damage someone elses mind.

It would be nice to do all damage to the mind pool. The only thing is the only point of this combo is for PvP. If you're in PvE it would be more viable to just get one profession and then back it up with some support professions.

rifle does go good with swordsman, not so much for PvP, but for taking on huge monsters like rancors or krayts because the swordsman and rifle bleeds stack on each other.

you'd only need to get novice rifleman and the first box on the left side and you'll have all 4 bleeds, shoot 2 bleeds from far away, then when it gets close stack the other bleeds on and watch the points tick away.

btw my post got deleted last time i told how to solo a krayt

that's a pretty nice prize. care to elaborate on your strategies?

hs2/3 from range to convince them they want to run up to you, then hh3 when they get there? something a bit more complex? have you gone master brawler? maybe get in a ranged dizzy then an KD when they get close?

I was actually going to start a new post when I saw this. Right now im a master doc/ 2/1/3/2 rifleman and was thinking about dropping doc for the swordsman skill. I was wondering, other than hitting for immense ammounts of damage, what stat effects or position changes does swordsman have. I know stacking mind bleeds would be tramatic to an enemies mind pool in pve. I know once I hit master rifeman, my speed is increased greatly. How fast can swordsman hit, because I've been taken out by a swordsman in two mind hits. Is master rifle/master swordsman the way to go, with just enough medic to use very nice stim b's.

I recently gotMaster Rifleman. I ground all the way to Master without any Brawler based skills at all. I chose to go Marksman Pistol IV to deal with targets that got within melee range. But this causes a problem. Until you get to the area effect shots in the Rifleman tree, mind damage is king (if you are not using Concealshot). Even after reaching Master, mind damage is an important option. The problem? If you start attacking a target with mind damage, and it closes on you to do melee damage, as so many things do, you are suddenly presented with an unpleasent choice.

If want to continue to attack the mind pool, you can stay with Rifle and deal with slow firing speeds (until Master), 2.5x melee damage (which is changed to damage mitigation with the new combat changes), and incredibly poor accuracy at close range. Or, you can switch to pistol and start all over by doing random pool attacks or specifically attacking the health pool. This gains you back some accuracy and gets rid of the melee damage modifier (but not the damage mitigation with the combatchanges), but you loose the ability to continue to target the mind pool. The problem is lessend if you start out using Random pool attacks with the rifle, but that damage is healable for PvP. So while it is a workable solution that can help you survive, it is not really the best solution.

If I had it all to do over again, I would have dropped the Pistol altogether and gone up 2 Handed. In fact, now that I am a Master Rifleman, I am doing just that. I dropped some auxilliary skills last night and started up that path. I am at 2H II, and can now do melee mind damage. Woot!. I am going up into Swordsman once I get done with 2 Handed in Brawler, and, depending on how much Scout I can talk myself into giving up, I will likely master that as well.

So in answer to your question, yes, Swordsman and Rilfman should bea good combination. If I can take them down with my Rifle before they get to me, I can live with that. But if they are a particularly tough opponent, spawn on me unexpectely, or for some other reason close on me before I can kill them, I can continue doing mind damage and even stack additional mind bleeds (within Swordsman) or continue doing random pool damage (if that is what I was doing before). With area effect dizzies from the rifle and theadditional posutre change attacks with this line(all Rifle specific posture changes are posture ups), it should yield more knockdowns as well. The two should be an awesome combination.

Another wonderful ability of the combination is the ability to pull critters from a crowded lair. Divide and conquer. Once you hit the bleed on one critter, he will charge you on the first tick , leaving his buddies standing there wondering what is going on. On occasion i've even gotten a voritor lizard to fight with his buddies while bleeding. When they come running up to you, switch to power hammer, 2 more bleeds, switch to curved sword or cleaver, head hit 3 till they drop. Works like a charm.

Yea, im thinking about going this template for pvp. Although, this would also work well for pve.

You have to absolutely keep in mind that the rifleman profession mixed with anything is useless without muon gold. Theres nothing worse tha going after torur bulls, getting one down to about 10% of his mind with the rifle using headshot 2 or 3 and then to have him incap you with a tiny little75point mind hit.... all because three specials and no spice crippled you like NO OTHER CLASS IN SWG.

I"m a master swordsman/master rifleman and enjoy it greatly. I stat migrated really heavy into my mind in that rifles are my standard pve weapon and I pull out the swords if they get close. For PvP I'm always buffed anyway. The blast damage isa big help against at-st's and turrets whereas the mindshots with the rifle are king

I too have this combo however!

I am finding the large cost of Rifle bleeds to not be worth using them! Infact I find simply getting a few concealed hit in with a normal aim shot and then finishing with the main two hand hits utilizing a curved sword and NOT the hammer to be much more effiecient!

Does anyone else miss an ubscene amount of times with the Hammer????

Also if your goal is to do mind damage the curved sword is much better at this then the Hammer is!
