Thread: Useful PvP (and pve) Macro's and Tips

I've recently come to the realization that the difference in a close fight can come down to having your hotkeys set up efficiently. This often times includes Macro's. I'm going to list the macro's that I currently use. My template at the moment is Master Swordsman/Fencer x4x4 /TK x3xx / Doc 4xx4 and these are what I use.

Doc Related: These are all simple but come in quite handy. Recently I have been using /clear (short for clearcombatqueue) to get rid of any other moves pending so my heal will go through quicker. I suggest using this before any heal macro as well as your KD recovery.

/bactajab self;

/bactashot self;

/bactainfusion self;

To make it easier go ahead and find the same icons when making the macro that they would normally have. Also you may want to keep at least the regular bactashot (or enhancer) on your hotkey in case you need to heal your buddy. I don't use infusion all that much myself because of the large mind cost. If I can initiate it prior to engaging I will.

Ruby Bliel/Stim Combo: This is a staple to any good PvP'ers hot bar. I've been told that you can use Ruby then 2 stims in a row, but I havn't had that be the case many times so I keep it a 1:1 ratio for now until I can look into this further. You will need 3 hotkeys for this one, one for the macro and 1 for the stim and1 for the ruby. You can place these in a different pane but I prefer to have it in my main pane so that if i'm going nuts on my F keys I don't miss queuing up anything.

/ui action toolbarslotXX; (XX = the slot 00-23 that you have your stim in)

/pause .5;

/ui action toolbarslotXX; (XX = the slot 00-23 that you have your ruby in)

As a general rule I will hit this almost everytime I get knocked down except towards the beginning of smaller fights.

Buff Macro:

/serotoninInjection; (mind first so you can get the regen bonus right away)

/pause 8;

/nutrientInjection;

/pause 8;

/endorphineInjection;

/pause 8;

/adrenalBoost;

Either target no one and get yourself or just target whomever.

Group Target: not a macro but still handy to target that guy about to die

/ui action targetGroupX (X = 0-6 is the members group number, 0 is the first person below you)

Swordsman related: As of right now I am basically just using alarms to let me know when timers are over, like KD and Cob as well as when Armor Break would be done. It can get a little messy if you miss and have to reapply the move but in general I find it helpful. Currently I typically use the COB, flurry and KD macro. They seem to be the most useful.

Center of Being: Don't loop it unless you don't mind hitting dump on a regular basis.

/cob;

/pause 42;

/alarmAddIn 0 .1 *COB Ending*; (substitute whatever you want it to say)

Sword Flurry : Believe it or not every little bit of defense helps and it doesn't hurt to squeeze this one in.

/swordflurry;

/pause 10;

/alarmAddIn 0 .1 *FLURRY*;

LegSweep: A KD is a powerful tool not just because it knocks them down but because it costs them 25% action to use KD Recovery. Don't be afraid to start off your fight with doing a KD and only Melee hitting them so you can conserver your action and make them play catch up.

/legsweep;

/pause 30;

/alarmAddIn 0 .1 *KD NOW*

Armor Break: This is what wins the fight for us time and time again. Unlike KD as far as I can tell there is no timer on reapplying this state, it will just reapply it everytime you land it. But I still put the alarm in so that I don't have to waste the action on using it more often than I have to. I'd rather be doing Critical

/armorbreak;

/pause 30;

/alarmAddIn 0 .1 *BREAK EM!*

SeeRandom Tip #2 for making different colors on your alarm text.

Food/Spice Related: This one is similar to the ruby/stim except you will have all your food in your hotkeys on another tool bar pane.

/ui action toolbarPaneXX;(XX = pane 00-05 that your food is in)

/ui action toolbarSlotXX; (00-23, repeat this line for as many items as you wish

....

....

/ui action toolbarPaneXX; (XX = 00-05 your original pane that you plan on using)

Random Helpful Tips:

#1: A general good practice is to widen your target bar so that you can see all of their states, sometimes they can be so full you can't see what states are still on them. Also you may want to widen yours if you are like me and use a lot of food/buffs so you can see what you have on you.

#2:Different colors for different alarms can help you distinguish them. A list of the Hex code can be found at http://striketowers.com/hexcolorchart.html

First make your alias:

/alias redcob /alarmAddIn 0 .1 \#CC0000 *Cob over!* (only have to do this one time)

Then in your macro you would change it to this:

/cob;

/pause 42;

/redcob;

Tip for fighting jedi and fellow COB'ers:

This strategy is specifically against opponents using COB and Force Aura. Often times (especially jedi) your opponent will have their skill macro'd to automatically go on when the timer is about done. Keep your eyes on their bar and see if their macro is set to go almost exactly when the timer is done. If it is you are in luck!

Keep an eye on that timer and when it gets to around 1-3 seconds hit em with a KD (make sure they are Armor broke before hand) While they are knocked down they cannot activate aura or cob and you get some free big hits in on them. Some players will completely not realize that their aura or cob is not active after (if) they are able to get up. Others will realize and reapply. Either way it's a great opportunity to strike, and you can keep looking for that during the fight because they don't have a chance to change their macro mid stream.

COUNTER:Ok for us swordsman and melee that use COB, be sure to reapply your cob at right about the 5 second mark and you will never be the victim to this strategy.

That's about all I have at the moment. I'm always looking to improve and add to them so feel free to add your own and share your opinions.

Many thanks go to EnderUK (camulos) for creating some of these, and formulating effective strategies to help melee compete again.

You certainly can put the hex colors. I believe there is nice info in the Squad Leader forum on their system messages. I'll try and find it.

I stopped using the Armor break alarm because they were starting to get jumbled together.

http://striketowers.com/hexcolorchart.html

Lists all the hex codes. Here's an example of using it in the alarm:

/alarmAddIn 0 .1 \#000099 *TEST*

this would be a blue one.

I'll add this info to the main post

EDIT: I'm currently having issues getting this to work in the macro. The exact same line works on the chat line but for some reason not in the macro. working on a fix.

Ok I found a way around it by using an alias. So if you take the time to set it once this is how it would work.

First make your alias:

/alias redcob /alarmAddIn 0 .1 \#CC0000 *Cob over!*

Then in your macro you would change it to this:

/cob;

/pause 42;

/redcob;
