I think any race with good mind/willpower mods are the races to choice for any combat class. Humans can have 1100/600. Zabraks can have 1000/900. I'm not sure what the maximum for mind and willpower are for the other races, but Zabraks seem to have the best bonuses for melee combat because they have mods to resist intimidate, dizzy, etc and they have high willpower making them regen mind like a fiend. Someone tried to convince me that Trandos or Wookies would make good meleers because of their high strength mods and bonuses to health/action. They say strength is supposed to reduce melee damage to health. My take on that is you can always heal mind/action, you can never heal mind and once you get incapped in mind, so you have to wait forever for it to regen if you are a trando or some race with low willpower. Also, if what the manual says is true about the statement that strength reduces melee damage, then they really dorked up how armor works. Armor reduces strength so that would theoretically increase the melee damage done to you, yet you are supposed to resist damage done to you by wearing armor *boggle*....The same goes for the other stats in regards to damage done to action and mind (quickness, stamina). I say, if you want to be meleer, all you need are some good stim b's, and your mind and willpower maxxed. The rest is all about looks and your personal preference.

If it weren't for the fact that my character is a radical Imperial loyalist, I would totally be Zabrak. That 900 willpower is awesome, and equilibrium with buffs can be a full mind heal.

None of the melee specials use mind. The only time it's an issue is if a Bounty Hunter EyeShots you.

Guess what ? ? ? Zabraks will die from that too, maybe a little slower, but they will still be dead.

Action incaps me more than anything else, but I have high strength and con. I get incapped from loss of health more than loss of mind (and that's using stimpacks).

You're kidding right?

Try using Head Hit 3 with a Two Hand Curved Sword and come back here and tell me none of our specials use mind.

Try using a power hammer with low Health, Constitution, and Strength.... You'll have to use a stimp every 2-3 swings.

It all depends on the race and weapons you use, Since Im a trandoshan the power hammer and cleaver are my friend. 2 handed Curved Sword is the devil

I'm currently a Rodian, but I was wondering If someone could give a breakdown on advantages and disadvantages of the classes.

My character is a human master swordsman/master brawler, partial doctor. Most of the time I only do a few specials during a fight, the mind bleeds and maybe a few head hits. I don't normally go spastic with the specials and I manage to outdamage alot of people even if they are spammingtheir specials. I seem to always get incapped in the mind and that's annoying as hell cuz when you get hit for mind damage, you are out of the fight until your mind regens back, whereas if you get hit for health/action you can always get healed for that. To each his own, but trando's with that ity bity mind get incapped quick, and I'm surprised people still get incapped in health/action...I suppose if you aren't a medic or hunt with medic friends then you could try the all out tank templates but to me that isn't very versatile. You guys do know that you can buff strength/con/stam/quick/health/action with enhance stims right? You only can take drugs for mind...My character has the human minimum of strength/con/stam/quick at 400 and I swing my powerhammer fine, it's landing intimidate 2 that ends up killing me especially if it takes like 6 tries to land it.

Outlaw, I think you've confused the phraseology there. When they say strength reduces melee damage to health, they mean that having a big strength will reduce the damage that using a special will cause to your health pool. It has nothing to do with damage inflicted upon you from an outside source.

Well I made the switch tonight from Rodian to Zabrak. I liked my Rodian but I just think the Zab's look cooler with the tatoos and they have more ofa tank look then the Rodian. The Rodian is nice if you spam lot of specials because of their action bar regenand of course they get +10 2h accuracy. I think its important to like the looks of your character alot though and like was stated before mind cant be healed so the Zab mind bonus comes in handy.

I noticed the Zab have combat equilibrium which I tried out and is nice, my question is do increases to this skill decrease the reuse timer or what?.

I would say the best race for Swordsman is either the good'ol lizard man or the Wookie, but I'm human and I love my race.........

I'm almost a Master, but heres how I apporach a fight. Once I knock an opponents mind/health down to more than half with the PH, I switch to my 2 handed sword (granted I have enough HAMs to support a special) and finish them off that way, because using specials with the Katana RAPES your HAMs, but it hits almost everytime, versus the spuratic misses with the PH (again, I'm not a master yet).................but theres a tactic for every situation my dear old Emporer once told me.........

Tsion, thanks for the clarification. That is exactly what I thought until this Trando sword guy was telling me otherwise and that he made Trando because his high strength *reduces* melee damage he takes. He went on to say that after landing intimidate he rarely gets hit for more than then teens. I was like, erm ok lol, but since I'm human with only 400 strength I couldn't say if he was bogus or not...
