Thread: Are Wook swordsmen hosed?

-Can't wear clothing under the armor (= no CAs)

-Only 4 pieces of armor for the hunting armor and the main head/body piece gets hammered quick (= limited places to put AAs or replacing them with the armor every other week or so)

-Armor hole with lack of gloves and boots? I seem to take a lot of strength wounds for some reason, also a lot of BF, even though I'm not taking noticable damage per se.

I wanted a crystal/pearl hunter for my jedi, and I wanted to try wookiee, so I built him up as MSwords, MFencer, MBrawler, TKA 4300, novice medic. I may drop TK meditation for 4000 medic if needed, but that's about it.

But reading the boards here on elder/krayt techniques and speed capping, it seems that most of it relies on full composite, CAs in shirts, belts and spread across 9 composite armor pieces.

So, am I SOL? Should I just master swords on my (human) doc instead?

U are right...sad to say...wooks are some kind of limited in clothing/armor...i was able to wear an armwrap under my armor but after one of the latest patches that is no longer possibile... wrote two tickets to csr and all i got was the tip to write a bug-report...lmao...so all u can do is putting ca´s into belts...imo the only piece of clothing witch wooks can wear with armor...

P.S. For an Elder/Crystal-Hunting-Wookiee i would suggest u the following build: Master Brawler/Swords/Tka 4300/Fencer 0040/Pike 0040/Medic 2040 and Combat Prowess 0004. Good defense vs. stun/dizzy and only +3 needed in tapes to cap spd.

Mastered Professions so far: * Brawler *TKA * Fencer * Swordsman * Pikeman * Marksman * Rifleman * Scout * Creature Handler * Medic

Thanks for the feedback.

I saw that people tended to go TK x3xx or Pike xx4x for the extra states and posture defenses. I'd never played Fencer to master before and wanted to try it out and maybe hang onto it for some PvP, but if those extra lines don't help me with my real goal, then I guess I can drop them. I can see where the medic 2040 would be very useful.

Since this is a brand new toon, I'm going to have to through all the FS rigamarole all over again just to get melee speed- which won't even be for 6+ more weeks. Ugh.

I haven't taken him out for a real 'test-drive' yet- waiting for today's publish and the reduction in app xp to master fencer and swords. I suppose after I go for a spin and see where the deficiencies are, I can make a determination on where to make changes.

well speaking as another wookie swordsman, I'll say we have a slight dissadvantage, but I don't belive we're hosed. I'm currently 4-0-0-0 tka, master swordsman, master brawler, 4-0-4-0 medic, 1-0-4-0 scout, 0-0-4-4 combat prowess, and the FS melee and ranged def tree's. So far I don't have any issues with Krayts other than getting bored (it feels like your digging a bomb shelter with a spoon). I havn't had the opertunity to chase any elders yet. With the combat prowes you can get by with +3 for speed, it's not too hard to get that in 1 ca and put it in a belt, also +1 AA's are not too hard to find especialy if you search back water skill tape vendors.

Yeah, once I can get the melee speed line, it may not be so bad- my concern was mostly whether the lack of coverage to the hands and feet constituted an armor hole that an elder or krayt might hit for ungodly damage. While I haven't noticed a hole in terms of damage, per se, it did seem like bf and wounds were greater than on my human toons who wear composite- and bf might come into play in a long, drawn-out fight.

Wookies are not supposed to wear armor first off Its just too bad they dont stick to the real star wars galaxy as far as that and a WHOLE bunch of other things go. Do you wookies still have the additional stat points to use with that armor, because that kind of gives you a little bonus?

Well I havn't yet noticed any apparent armor hole. As for wounds and BF I've never really had a non-wookie combat character so I have nothing to compare it to. And with our suposed bonus we get a 250 pt bonus to streingth. wich means we have a base str of 650 instead of 400 I think is the normal base, but that don't help when EVERYTHING has to be done with buffs and any buff over 2k will make HAM costs hit zero anyways.

I am another wookiee swordsman and I don't think we are hosed at all. Sure, lack of clothing and all that, but combat prowess and the fact that many of us still have prenerf armor with awesome stats can make us excel in some ways.

Well dont complain about not wearing gloves or boots. my toon cant where boots or gloves and i dont think i here anything about that. The only think i know that you an where under armor is a shirt. So not to much going on with other toons. Yea sucks about that but have you ever seen or read about a wookie wearing a shirt, or crying to someone that there feet hurt and they need some shoes?

yeah wooks get the short straw on attachments, but i basically see it as 30m i can spend elsewhere
i wouldnt worry about armour holes, i dont notice anything out of the ordinary.. i do get strength wounds though, strangely enough, though all my other secondary's are fine... but nothing a strength wound pack wont heal (and if you hunt NS you will have novice medic AT LEAST).

i can solo elders and the only combat i have is 0010 brawler and MS, i'm MDE as well. i do, though, have FS melee speed and accuracy. medic 0200 as well.

just make sure you got your NS kit up, thats food, good stims, 80% armour with enough condition to last... and remember the intimidates etc etc... wookiee roar is useful to start if there are spell weavers or sentinels attached to the elder that you need to knock off first.

if you're desperate for attachments, get a bandolier as well as a belt. theres an extra few slots, but you sacrifice your backpack. not too bad if you're hunting NS, but take a pack to the geo caves

solo'd my first krayt yesterday. i made a wookie alt just as you but i only have m2h. no medic skills, and no other defense gains from other professions. i lost 20k condition off of my wookie armor, mostly the chest plate. and on thescylla server wookie armor is not too expensive. 225k to 300kfor a suit of 80% kin. wookies are only hosed with crap formind secondaries. we need to either have uber brandy or full dance, musician buffs to be able to hunt krayts/elders. but then again i have yet to kill an elder so..

Do you watch tv at all? I seem to remember this little thing called Episode III trailer that has wooks in armor.

Gaarawarr - Elder Creature Handler, Leader of the Order of the Crimson Blade
DeusEx Machina - Elder Rifleman
TheMan InBlack - Fine Art Dealer
Repio James - Commando
Gaarawar (Mini-me) - Officer in training
