Thread: The only gate I have run across on the road to Squad Leader....

....is Survival. Pain in the arse. When I can actually beat the ninja-campers in the group, I get only decent XP because healing damage is very fast, especially in my camps. The only way I can efficiently get survival xp is camping by myself for hours at a time which is MIND NUMBING. If I could strike a camp and leave it be knowing I wouldn't hit an xp cap that would be swell, but no, 800 solo and 1000 grouped means I have to keep checking on it; something the macro-harvesting artisans don't have to do. A lot of people will say I am just pissed that I can't flash through this like a powergamer; well, they are right. I am pissed I can't flash through something this terribly BORING. We shouldn't have to sit in a **edit** camp doing nothing to get xp. Maybe if there was something worthwhile to do in a camp while you waited, but there's nothing. Crafting will suck up much needed credits/skill points, foraging is worthless considering the lack of chefs, sampling is also worthless because nobody buys minerals on the Bazaar....

Well, enough ranting. I think the devs should either speed up xp gains from camping or find a way to make it more "fun." I mean jeez, it's not like we are gonna have a gang of ub3r d00dz running about saying, "OMg I r l33t, I r teh mast3r campz0rz, lool!!!!!1!11!!11one"

I actually have all my Survival XP... I'm just 7000 Combat XP short of training Novice Squad Leader.

I had an issue tonight where I had to report a big bug in carbines, otherwise I wouldhave had it...

But a diligent camper will find Combat XP is slower than Survival XP, I think...

True, combat xp comes much slower than survival xp, but you are overlooking one thing; camping is done FAR less often and is FAR less fun. The only time camping becomes relatively fun is at 2 AM when the hardcore players are on...they usually like to stay somewhat in character and chat. Other than that, it's just a big yawn fest. Through normal grouping and camping when I am injured after EVERY lair/npc battle, I still have WAY more combat xp than survival xp.

I have enjoyed every single other aspect of this path, but **edit** I hate camping. Anyway, time to log back in and bust out another 15k survival so I can get on with the real game.

To get my camping XP, I would put down a camp anytime I was doing stuff around the house. In the mornings, log in, put up a camp, and eat breakfast. Put up a camp, take a shower. Put up a camp, take out the garbage. Etc, etc.

Camping XP seems to make big jumps at 6 minute intervals. A multiperson for 6 minutes gives around 200 XP, a multiperson for 12 minutes gives like 400 XP.

Also, befriend a crafter who goes out in the wild and samples for resources. Put a camp beneath him. /tendwound his action damage and /dance his mind damage... he'll be happy since he's getting lots of resources, and you'll get mondo XP from a.) having two people in the camp, b.) doing other things in the camp, like sampling, dancing, and healing, c.) recovering lots of damage.

I was getting 800 XP per 12 minutes in that situation.

Combat XP however... the quickest method I have found is soloing tabages on Corellia for 39 combat XP a pop. They are slow enough that I can kill them before they get to me. Basically, I hit TAB and /fightmacro... then TAB and /fightmacro... ad naseum to the tens of thousands of combat XP required...

Frankly, Combat XP often felt like more of a grind to me (perhaps because grouping has been bugged here these first few weeks and giving out horrible XP).

I'll second Vol here that Combat EXP is harder for me than wilderness XP, or Survival XP.

I'm finding that hunting those nuna's other small monsters is good and then siting down those 18 minutes in my camp alone...while deadly boring mkaes me watch some anime while I'm camped but if I get on enough for a few of them I get enough damage and then get the harvesting xp. However I'm lacking int he overall combat xp, I figure I'll just be hutning in groups headed towards large/expereinced planets afterwards just focusing upon my pistol/combat xp and not worry about camps or harvesting resources...

Seems to be two fold do the harvesting and camping solo on small mobs and then go form big groups to get your combat xp....the pistol xp is the easiest for me so far.
