I have been interested in the squad leader profession since I got the game, but have been trying other professions out to see how I like them. So far I am enjoying the one handed melee branch of the brawler tree. So I was wondering would a Squad Leader/Fencer be a viable build. Fencers get a fair amount of defensive bonuses, add that with the SL bonuses, and Ranged Weapon Support bonuses, and you have a fairly strong character defensive wise. You would still be able to use Squad Leader abilities to boost the group, the only difference would be that you are melee and not ranged. Just wanted some opinions and thoughts about this build.

I like it, if only because it's so orignal. your right though, that combo of bonuses with both trees would make a hard to hit charecter allright.

They only have small mind pools if the player wants them to be that way...besides, he is taking Fencer for the defensive bonuses only, I dont think he intends to be duking it out at every engagement.

I actually started as an artisan, so my mind and action are high, while my health is low. After stat migration, I plan to even things out a little more. My plan is to master squad leader and fencer. With those mastered, and the prerequisite skills, I would still have 23 skill points left. This would be enough to get specialist in a ranged weapon form the marksmen tree. I would then be able to assess the situation, and choose to go melee or ranged depending on how things are going. So I would have good defense, strong melee offense, and decent ranged offense. This would allow me to be flexible, if my group is all ranged I can melee, or if we have enough melee, give ranged support.
