I'm sure this subject has been brought up before, but what are the chances that Squad Leaders will be allowed NPC troops. Droid Engineers now will have Combat Droids, Creature Handlers have a dozen pets to choose from. Well, what is a Squad Leader if not the CH of humans. I think SL should be able to use NPC Troops, just like CH, as your skills in SL increase, you can have more troops. The troops can work on a Difficulty Level just as pets do. Normal troops are low Difficulty, while the Tougher troops like NPC Commando's would be much higher Difficulty. I've heard that they were revamping SL, but I haven't seen the plan. I think this would make playing a SL much more fun. You could use troops from Faction recruiters, but then you would need to be given the option to keep your group covert. Still i think it would work best with, generic NPC Troops.

have never ever liked the idea of turning the SL proffession into an NPC-handler profession.

leave the pets to the CH's.

I honestly don't mean to be short with you, and I try not to be cruel, but we are called "Squad Leaders", not "Squad Controllers". Our talent (not in game abilities; they're a different topic) is the ability to manage live people, in all their exentric glory. Doing that well is what being a good Squad Leader is all about.

I think your right, PC leadership is the heart and soul of the SL. However I'm talking about adding to, not taking from. The ability to use NPC troops simply gives a very narrowminded proffesion, one more option. I love getting a group of goofballs, its a blast. However, being stationed in Japan, half the time I log on, the server is a Ghost Town. I'll go to Dath to Rancor Hunt and its just me and the Crickets, haha. NPC Troops would allow a SL to Continue his training and practive his abilities, even when there isn't a group to be had.

I in no way believe that NPC troops should be the focus of the profession, I don't want them to be another CH. However, if every Squad Leader were allowed 2 NPC Troops (Just foot soilders with E11 Rifles), then while leading PC groups would still be the Main Focus, it would no longer also be thier biggest Handicap

Im agree to u.... At the begining, I think SL can lead some troopers by his faction points and his faction levels.

This made me upset after Im SL.....

Darth Raven is right though. If your a SL and your alone, 1 trooper who will not even attack non-faction enemies (unlike the CH pets who can attack anything) will not be able to help you do jack.

Sorry Panzer, but it seems just plain goofy that a SL can only have one faction follower, just as goofy as it is that those faction followers will not lift a finger to save your a-s-s getting ripped apart by a Graul.

I hate the current system they have, should have been a points based system from the get-go. You combine Rank and SL to get a certain number of points and each faction follower is worth so many points. Leave the costs, but say a Storm Trooper is worth 150 points (still cost 420fps for a human), a Imperial Trooper is worth 50 (Still worth 100+ fps) and a AT ST is worth 500 (Still 9k+ fps). Say rank allows you access to 20 points per rank (just go with it for now) and Novice SL gives you a bonus of 100 points, Master gives you +200 for a total of +300. That means a High ranking Master SL could have 800 points, a AT ST and two Storm Troopers. He still has to pay for the Troopers though with the normal faction cost.

You just Cap it so that you don't get more than 1 AT ST ever and I really don't care if a guy gets 20 billion Imperial Troopers and uses them all because they are crap. Points are points, and you have quality over quanity. Simple freaking concept that any geek who ever played a war game knows that SOE dropped the ball on.

I still think that we should be able to have more than 1 faction NPC...

In general, I think the squad leader should be more of a military-utilizing class, with bonuses and perks based on faction rank. More troops to command, transport shuttles, airstrikes, or supply drops...

It makes sense to me that a squad leader's abilities should be in coordinating and supporting a 'squad', whether it is made of NPCs, Players, or both. The current ability set is paltry compared to every single other profession in the game. Even Image Designers get more in-gameoptions for plying their trade than we do.

I see a lot of replies talking about Faction NPC's. I think thats a step in the right direction, but I don't think that would be the right way to go. If they changed the amount of Faction Troops you could have, that would be great...If your an Imp or a Rebel. They would need to keep it generalized enough that anyone could take the profession and use its benefits. Plus, as mentioned before, Faction Troops don't do squat against non-faction players or creatures.

I think the way to go would just be Generic Troops. Just some Marine, with a rifle. Anything that will allow you as a SL to work even when you can't find a group of PC's, and something that will shoot at whatever you tell it too. I just want to say again, that I think the SL Profession should still focus on PC Leadership, a couple NPC Troops would just be a smart move to give the SL more than one Dimension

Darth Raven-

I have a thread going on Neutral Faction followers, should only be a page or two back. See if anything on that thread tickles your fancy and if it does feel free to post on it and thus bump it up.

I still think my points suggestion would work with any faction though, and that would solve more than hurt. Might be able to be abused by CH/SL combos though.
