Thread: Max Distance of Group Members and still receive XP

Exactly that... what is the maximum range a group member can be and still earn me SL XP? If I am grouped with a few AFK players in town, and go hunting solo, will I still gain good SL XP?

Once you receive the "Out of Range" notification on your group members list, they are too far away.. So generally around 200m.

I don't recall getting that message. I have an AFK dancer/Musician and an AFK doctor that I go to when my buffs wear out. I leave them in group and they buff me when I am with them. So they never attack. I also group with my pets, so I am not sure if the SL XP I am getting is for all of us, or just me and my pets. That is why I was asking...

If you kill the creatures, then y ou'll get bonuses for them being in the group.
If they're out of your range, and they kill something, you'll get nothing. In order to get SL xp from someone else's kill, they must be close enough to appear on your radar & shot their HAM's on your Group List (upper left by default). This averages around 200-300m (sometimes getting bigger, but only momentarily)

I was experiencing SL XPloss at about 90m the other night. Hopefully that was a fluke because that isnt' very far.

On a sort of related topic.
Is exp based on dmg done by the SL on a mob, or more so just howmany people are in range and kill the thing?
I was going to try a new combat profession and SL at the same time, hoping the group members would do most of the killing, but I'd still get exp for the SL part of it.
If no I'll stick with Master Pikeman, and deal max damage.
I was gonna play around with commando, as I miss shooting guns, heh.

If I remember correctly, it is based on the group combat damage. So whether you do any or not is irrelevant now. It was at one time, based only on your own damage, but now I'm pretty sure it is the entire group times the number of people in the group.
