Is triumphant spellt right?

Greetings fellow Squad Leaders...I have returned from an extended absense to the outter rim where I as engaged fighting some darkskinned humanoids with long pointy ears called "Night Elves" and some short humanoids with excessive facial hair called "Dwarves."

At first I was highly upset with the change in Imperial Combat Doctrine, but have since come to embrace the "combat update." I am so very much better at combat now than I was, and I feel the urge to share some of my newly gained knowledge and experiences with all of you.

First off, /assist is gone! Make sure you inform your squad on the new procedures for assisting in combat. If you are unaware, let me enlighten you. Target the person you wish to assist, and start using your attacks. It is that simple, all attacks will be directed at your squadmate's target. The bonus to this is that all beneficial effects ( for instance, bacta toss, bacta shot, etc.) Will affect the squadmate that you have targeted. So, assign one member as the "tank" and let that squad member choose who the squad is fighting.

YOU have to form the squad! I have learned this the hard way. When I gave up bounty hunter (no longer needed for massive carbine speed with the new system) I also gave up my scouting terrain negotiation (no longer a prereq for squad leader). I found that when I joined another squad and was made leader I was walking up hills! If terrain negotiation is broken by not forming the squad, chances are all of our passive bonuses are broken, and since ranged and melee defense play a large role in how damage is calculated now, that extra +30 is nothing to sneeze at!

Do you realize that you grant +110 ranged and melee defense to your squad? +30 from passive group bonus and +80 from RALLY! Also +40 to accuracy (ranged and melee) I have no idea what kind of bonus Steady Aim gives and with it's warm up timer I do not use it often.

Volley Fire is very useful now! Try it out I have noticed roughly a 15% increase in damage output, as was reported earlier on this forum.

Get a good combat droid. You will never be without a squad. (no walking up hill for me!) And it seems that the CL of the droid vs. target has no effect on the damage the droid deals. Have your squad pull out their droids (or pets or troopers)and place them under your command. (They target you and issue their "befriend" command.) It helps if you set up a macro, and if everybody's pet has the same attack and follow commands. I have my macro set up to/volleyfire;/yell Have at 'em boys;/say attack Yes, they are weak, but the extra damage they cause will make fights go quicker, and might just distract that jedi long enough for you to give him a good stopping shot, or whack him with the butt of your weapon (I love firearm strike!) Stupid Jedi, I'll teach you to root me!

Wow, seems like I don't know how to make a short post, probably because I don't post very often....

Hope this helps some of you!

Btw, welcome back, I too explored that galaxy for about a week during my vacation, but I enjoyed being here more.

Yeah, I noticed a lot too. I'm glad you mentioned the Scout TN, because I tend to solo at times and yes, the points could be used for something better, but walking up hill is so slow. Very rare do I use a combat droid unless I know I may have a chance to be ganged up on. Gotta run. Will update this when I get a chance.

For various reasons manhy people who like working in a group don't like using /assist.

Recently I've found use of macros that identify primary targets and apply SL commands are very popular, since people feel like they're more directly controlling their supporting fire.

See the macro's post for an example. I use this with Volley Fire, Steady Aim, and a /sys message to "stay on target".
