Thread: why?!?!?

if the devs acknowledged that squad leader was a broken profession back at fanfest, why don't they just apply some quick fixes to the profession that would make it usefull for the time being until they can decide what to do with the profession.

By the time they decide what to do with the profession AND have the time to actually program the changes into the game, it'll probably be another 6 months before we see any changes.

i'd rather just see some quick fixes to the profession, if anything just use the time to implement some new ideas on live, if they work keep them, and if they don't work remove them.

Its jsut getting mighty frustrating waiting for something to happen, when squad leader only has 3 specials that actually work, retreat, volley fire, and rally.

steady aim doesn't work, formup is useless, and so is that other special that divies up wounds among group members.

either significantly raise the effectiveness of our working specials, or give us ANYTHING thats useful, jsut until they decide what to do with us.

i concur. a simple 50% increase in the numbers would be a sufficient band-aid and let us know they're thinking of us. i dont think that would be too unbalancing. yetwould probably get enough recognition from the rest of the players to give a damn about us.

That's because THEY have no idea what to do with the profession.

And just the fact that we have plenty of ideas, that we even cathegorize and try to suggest changes which are balanced and at the same time create very little work for the devs and that Darth_Sushi collects them and forwards the stuff to the correspondent forums doesn't mean that the Devs get any idea on what to do with us.

Thisleads to the conclusion that there must be a secret filter installed in the forums which results ineach and any thread with "Squad Leader" connected to it to be invisible to the Devs.

Or could it be that they simply ignore us? I consider that highly unlikely, though... *cough*

BAD idea!!!!

Allowing them to quick fix us to tide us over allows them to delay actually fixing us. Look at the other professions..hot fixes go in and its months before anything really gets addressed. No, I would rather they spend time with the real issues and do it all at once.

i completely agree with you but the problem is, the devs already said they don't have a time table on fixing squadleader or ranger and they have no idea how to fix squadleader.

I would love a revamp, but smugglers waited a year or more for their revamp and are still waiting, in 2 years the devs only truely revamped chef, image designer and jedi. (i really don't count the DE revamp because it really didn't help the profession at all and BH got their revamp in the CU)

i just have a feeling we will be waiting a VERY long time until the devs finally say, "we know how to fix squadleader and have the time to implement the changes".

but i do agree with you, i would much prefer a revamp to the profession, i'm just pessimistic on its timetable and if it will ever happen.

Silly Squad Leaders. You've been just as screwed as us Smugglers (probably even more) for over two years now. You should know that if you aren't Jedi, you just don't matter to them.

Silly ?

Nah, just disillusioned and drunk from brandy.

Although the Smugglers had it pretty hard in this year, you've been toyed and teased with in concept threads, DEVs attention, a new slicing system.

We are just plainly ignored....

I'm probably just ignorant and haveing looked in the right places, but wasnt there supposed to be a huge smuggler revamp? Is that still happening or is that looted sliceing stuff what it boiled down to? I'm gonna be a nervous reck when they start looking our way, wondering what .. interesting.. things they might do to us.

Yeah, be afraid. Dev love is more like the kind of love you get from a big, hairy prison inmate looking for a new "wife".

Perhaps the devs are ex-military and harbor a secret resentment toward their platoon and squad leaders. This is their way of passively getting back at the chicken***t ba***rds.
