Seems that I have a challenge on my hands that I know I will win. A guy I know in game believes like the rest of the players that we're broke. Well, I have read and posted on these forums long enough that I know I can win this. Anyone want to know the outcome?

I wonder why he logged? He knew I only had 9 links. I wish I could've told him I had 45 pages of info for him (now granted it looked like hell) though in truth it was probably was more like 9 but hey, what would you think when you saw a 45 page document? Maybe the profession isn't as broken as I thought?

He didn't believe that SL wasn't broke. And he told me I should just respec out of SL since it was broke and they won't be fixing it.

Ya know....while some of our stuff isn't broken, it doesn't mean they are anything to brag about...or prove anyone wrong in.

I can drive to California in an old Yugo. Doesn't mean that it is up to par with the other cars in its class, nor that it is a great car because it could eventually get there.

Sure our TN works....even thomany people are BHs or have TN clothing and dont see anything from it.

Sure our +30 Melee/Ranged defense work...even tho +30 isn't having an impact on anything they would see.

Sure Volley fire adds a red sphere...even though the mods for it don't work

We have been round and round on this....blasting some guy because he thinks our profession is broken isn't helping us. The day the masses thinkwe are working fine is the day we will not be getting our fixes we do need.

I am all for educating the masses as to what works and doesn't work in the profession, but lets not fool ourselves or the others by insisting that we are a Porche...or even a Malibu for that matter.

Amen, its foolish and counterproductive to try and "prove" SL isn't broken. What does it gain you? Status Quo. Congratulations on your efforts but you undermine everything many of us have worked years to get. Is SL better now than before the CU? Yeah. Is it on par with where it should be? Hell no.

And...I consider boostmorale broken because the mechanic it was used to effect is no longer really in the game. It used to affect wounds on all three stats, now you only get wounds to one...at a very slow rate. Formup is broken because the states it clears have little to no gameplay effect. Steadyaim is broken because it doesn't do what it says it does.

Keep working to undermine those of us who have tried for a long time to fix this prof, your efforts are a 10 ton anchor on this little ship called Squad Leader.

As far as he's implying because I have played with him in game, none of our stuff works. TN doesn't work, Rally, Formup don't work, and the whole profession doesn't have any skills worth using in any way shape or form. Which I disagree that are profession is that broke. I have told him that yes, there are things in the SL profession that are not working correctly, but saying the profession is broke without even finding out or even looking is a bit problematic. Some may not agree that this is a way of doing it, then what is? Sitting back in a cantina and letting those who want to butcher our profession and call themselves SL? Those of us who have mastered this profession, may as well not play. Because if we don't take action to prove people wrong, who will? The Devs? BH's? Jedi? If no one, why don't we just let the profession die? I'm interested in protecting this profession as much as anyone. And I know you know that. I gave him enough documentation to prove that yes, we are messed up, but we are not as broke as he claims that we are. Because I knew that getting into it with him. I had, nor have any intention of completely proving him wrong because I know and you know that I know we are not even 50% where we should be. You may still feel that this is childish to do it this way, but how else do we educate them? I know your posts and side with you in a great many things, even if I do not voice them here because of time or internet constraints, but if you can give us the answer on solving our problems with educating the less informed, tell us how.

That's all good and fine, but your post here didn't say that until now.. The other posts were all about how you proved him wrong that we were not broken and had a bunch of pages to prove it...not exactly what we want the devs to hear I think.

So true and my appologies to you. Pardon my lateness in my reply, as my internet is sketchy at best, so I get on whenever I can. You're also correct, the Devs shouldn't hear that we are fine, for we are not just how we should be. I would go on, but what would come next has been hashed out so many times that it is pointless to revisit. So I will end here.

Hm. Well, now he won't talk to me because I won't join his guild. Hm...though he did say he read some of what I gave him, maybe in the future he'll have more respect for squad leaders, but as far as I can tell, it has led to a draw. *sigh* Not that I was wanting to "win", but not talking to someone because they won't join your guild? Mm...petty. *sigh*
