I want to come back to squad leader, but have a question on templates

should i go MSL/Master pistols/med 4340 or should i go MSL/Master carbines/med 4340? or does anyone else suggest a better combo?

Right now, I'm working on MSL/MP/0134 BH. With this template I can knockdown using underhanded shot, apply volleyfire, warning shot or bleed (torso shot), then root with stopping shot, smack-em with a quickdraw/bodyshot combo, and when the root is gone hit them again with a knockdown. If rooting or knockdown doesn't work, I can hit them with eyeshot to try and blind them.

You should use rally before you begin, if you can. The template is a good support combo, two of the BH skills (Underhanded Shot, and Eye Shot) compliment the role of Pistoleer (which is crowd control through reducing enemy effectiveness). I would suggest carrying around a carbine or rifle (especially one of those sweet Dawnsorrow Rifles) so you can keep track of who's fighting who and apply knockdown/root where necessary.

SL/Carbines seems to be a nautral combo. The extra Medic is good as a SL too.

I myself am more of a Patton-style person when it comes to military stuff, so I put everything into offense. I crossed with Rifleman, and prefer to keep it because of the range. I used to feel dumb because we didn't have SL-special rifles, but now Necro drops a Master SL rifle. I picked up 0034 in BH for Underhand and Eyeshot. I mostly wanted Underhand, but with so few points remaining I stayed in the BH tree for Eyeshot. So I don' thave any healing abilities, but pack more of a punch and at long range. I tried doing carbines for a bit, but I couldn't stand having to be 'so close' to my opponents all the time. Matter of preference though.

Oh yea. There are rarely enough 80m range rifleman around to help with the turrets.

The rifle dropped caps at like 950 damage, I get about 450dps on it. Not as good as my T21 by a long-shot. :-/ For whatever lame reason, the only other rifle that competes with the T21 is the Advanced laser. So they took a newb weapon and made it better than all the cool weapons like the Berserker, dxr6b (best looking rifle in the game, IMO), Dawnsorrow (rifle dropped by Necro), etc. So I still often use a T21. I find it works very well.

P.S. Don't quote me on the Necro rifle name. I know its Dawn something. I'm at work and trying to remember it off the top of my head.

Just really depends on your play style. I chose pistoleer at first, but found a cool desktop that said it was my character. So I switched to Carbines. I don't know why I'm posting this because the template question is like asking which car is better. But on a non-negative p.o.v. Carbs, Pistols or Rifles, with some sort of medical profession is pretty good. Me, I didn't even bother with it. I never was clear until I saw my desktop which weapon I wanted to use. All weapons are good. Some are better than others, but it's a loaded question. There is no "RIGHT" answer. Just depends on your play style and preference.
