Thread: An idea for the future of Master Squad Leaders

Why not implement the ability to have Master Squad Leaders be like raid leaders. Give them the ability to raid invite up to 4 groups (including his own) and then they could send commands to the raid and it would allow the splitting of raid xp.
Yes this is sorta like the Original EQ with raid abilities and what not, but as it stands Squad Leader is hurting. I know I haven't played mine in quite awhile other than to log on for brief testing. I think an ability like this would define the roll of SQUAD LEADER above other characters in exactly what it is. A lead position. This could also allow the creation of much harder creatures that would require multiple groups to take down. Just one mans dumb idea's I guess =+)

I like the idea, being able to lead a platoon made up of a couple groups, Would definately make the game a lot more interesting. Hopefully the right people read this and take it into consideration

Since i've been involved into several larger-scale operations lately, i finally dare to als field a personal oppinion on this topic. Which is that this design is not really what i want.
I quite often run into the "group full" problem, where i just would need one or two more slots available. I am aware that with my playing style there's some risk that i'd even run into this issue occasionally with a 20 person limit and accept that a limit has to be placed somewhere, so my feelings on this are ambiguous.
From a personal and selfish point of view i would want to be able to have a much bigger group.Buti understand very well that some content requires the limitation of groupsize, the larger groups the Devs allow, the tougher they have to make the highest end enemies.
Anyways, this suggestion doesn't aim towards a bigger group but "only" for combining several groups to one bigger group. For this kind of communication the chat channels can do well enough, in my eyes. The last raids have proven that the system works very well, make one chat channel for the complete raid, give each groupleader the rights to invite members to the channel and make it clear that they are responsible for each teammember joining the channel and that they have to resolve smaller issues on the groupline and only important stuff should turn up on the raid channel.
With these simple instructions we were able to keep up clear and solid communication for over 4 hours of a raging PvP battle. The proposed Platoon-Idea would reduce the administrative and organisatory part of this a tiny bit, on the other hand it would again limit the maximum number of people who can somehow be put into the line.
Thus, while being a nice idea, i think that we don't need this so urgently and there are many things (e.g. satelite recon... i still love that concept!) around which i would have implemented first, in case we get some Dev attention.
