Thread: noob sl question
Retreat will only give your groupmembers a burstrun.
The initial idea was, that the squadleader covers the retreat and fights, while everybody runs away.

darn lol I was considering MBH Pistoleer 0003 SL 0404 CM 4000 and use retreat to catch pesky force run 1 annoyances, but now i see ill just have to have an alt SL afk nearby macroing it

Hmm, you're not the first lowlife who came to that idea. Was nerfed, wish you fun to grind your alt to the point where it can use burstrun, just to find out that he can't give you anything when you try to abuse it for your jedi hunting.
Again, move on and don't return, oki?

Perhaps. The "intelligent player" idea doesn't always work out, it seems. (How many years will it still take to learn the "one player, one (online) character" concept? Abusers and exploiters are the worst threat for any good game, they move like a swam of locusts and leave a track of abilities behind which got broken and nerfed into oblivion to stop their abuse.)

Where is your respect? You happen to be one of the ruder people ive encountered on the forums when asking a question about a profession, IM SORRY NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO MASTER SL, you dont hear me complaining on the pistoleer forums about every person who goes pistoleer 0003 for stopping shot and defense and do nothing else in pistoleer. You probably wouldnt understand why I would come here asking about SL's Retreat, because you must not understand that the larger portion of the server/pvpers are in fact JEDI!
omg i know youre suprised, but bare with me. Force run can be toggled on and off, im pretty sure you can only burst run every 10 or so minutes.

You misunderstand him. He's upset because you're talking about using a SL-bot. That is, abusing the profession. Its abuse because its things like that which draw the attention of the devs, which prompt them to nerf us. So for the rest of the hard-working SL community who actually actively play the profession and don't give a crap about the Jedi or their hunters, your post was not an appropriate one.

Reserved for people who play the game in a fair manner. Using an alt to gain an advantage is not how the game is meant to be played. If it would be, what would stop me from buying 8 accounts, setting them all up with macros and just go around kill everyting as one-player-8-men army?

I did not complain the slightest bit about dabbling at all. If you take you own character, squeeze in any bit of SL which is useful for you, i won't say a single word. It's a decent thing to optimize your character the way you feel it fine and i'll be happy if one or another part of SL is valuable enough for you to invest the skillpoints. What i complain about is the second character along which is just used for giving bonuses a single player is not supposed to have.

I now ignore the "probably not understanding" stuff to avoid further flaming. Rather i would advise you to take a look at the histroy of SL profession. Many of the problems here come from the fact that some players had the habbit of creating an SL alt which was just used to invite the characters into team, then was stored away in a save house and was only running retreat and formup on endless repeat. This method gave some people permanent burstrunning and immunity to stun/dizzy. It might not be obvious for you that this is an exploit if you use it yourself, but i dare to remind you, next time something like this might be used AGAINST you. Consider that, then think again if you would like it to happen. As many people did not like that, the SL-abilities were, one step after another, nerfed down. And i've seen the same happen in other games, support-professions, as soon as some people learned how to "automatise" them, were nerved into oblivion, till they were not worth using any more... not because the professions themselves were overpowered, but because some people used them to gain unfair advantages.
Is this enough to understand where i am standing and why i react rather badly on anybody who speaks of "just giving himself a tiny advantage with an alt"? Whoever uses that approach is a direct death-threat to any support profession and i react accordingly.

While never having played a bounty hunter, i have seen my share of PvP battles by being a rather active basebuster. (Last PvP base destroyed: 15. 08. 2005.) So i am well aware that some Jedi-abilities are rather hard do overcome. (And, there is worse than forcerun, but that's not the topic here.)

Don't try to ruin a profession (yes, i know, you never thought of doing that, you even never came to the idea that using an alt who just stands somewhere and gives you some advantages could be an exploit...) and the people of the profession will be nice to you. Openly state that you plan to do something similar to what lead to the profession being nerfed, you just have to expect not to get a happy smile and a "thank you for abusing us".

it was a joke, I know thats everyone worst nightmare to hear about someone using an afk sl, thus the reason for the "smiley Suprised" face and a "jk" at the end
