Thread: MSL/MR template...

Hi, I posted this on the Rifleman forums as well...

Hi all, I am currently regrinding Master Rifleman on one of my toons, and he will very soon be MRM/MSL/Novice Doc, and I am thinking of changing the last part to Combat Medic 4000. Previously MP/MSL/CM4000

I know that Master Squad Leader isn't great right now, but this template is mainly for PvE in groups. I was curious to see whether anyone else is currently MRM/MSL and what they have put the remaining SP into. I'm also interested to see what success (if any) people have had with this template.

On a last note I don't want to drop Squad Leader just yet

Any comments would be appreciated

One reason I like the idea of your MRanger / MSquadLeader for its ability to buff a group while staying largely hidden from battle. Can we say Camo and volleyfire? Wonder if that would uncover you? If not... you'd be utterly devistating in PvP. Sit back... cast volleyfire and watch the squad tear your target up for you! The enemy wouldnever know where you are if you were careful.

As I see it, if you stay alive, the squad gets your buffs. Stay cloacked and keep buffing. If revealed, toss a trap or two and blast em with whatever weapon you fancy. Get distance and Camo again...

Not to mention you can camo everyone in your group!

I'd do SL/Rifleman/CM4000 for the heals.

Basic concept is the same. If you stay alive, your squad bennefits. The raw healing power of CM 4000 is just insane... and thats the point!

Also, your range allows you to stay back some, and blast the enemy. You'd have to be weary of outdamaging your squadies though... riflemen tend to do that.

Before you begin your rain of death on the enemy, be sure to toss on /volleyfire. This will add 15% to your accuracy and damage... ouch! It will also add it to everyone in your squad that fires at that target. Be sure to take advantage of any knocked down targets! They have an additional 20% damage bonus... which is a whopping 35% total damage bonus with your /volleyfire. Talk about stacking on the pain!

All around, this template rocks for dealing pain, but lacks a much needed root or knockdown. You'll be doing alot of fighting either on your belly or fast on your feet.

My question is which kind of Imperial armor that I should use as MSL/MRM? Recon or Assault? More verstible? Or can I simply mix those 2?

Imperial Assault looks cooler in my opinion, but it comes down to what you plan to be taking on more often.

If you're planning on doing alot of PvP, I'd say go for the recon for the energy resist as the majority of the attacks against you as a rifleman will be energy.

I'd also recommend considering holding off for awhile, as Imperial faction armor can be really costly on Kettemoor right now, and it might be better for you to just invest in regular armor until you get higher CLand credits. Unless you have a large steady incoming credit flow, Imperial armor is best to save for special occassions (like PvP or RP events).

Unless have lot of ADKs and ADK all 7 key pieces then can wear it full time anywhere even in combat and invest all expensive CA's to them.. But that can be very expensive heh. Wish that Imperial suit is easy to come by cuz every soldiers in SW get it by default as free handout by Empire. But in other way, it would be impressive to see someone in full Imperial suit as great sense of accomplishment and it would be even impressive if see him/her in everyday combat..

Just wanted to make sure.. ADK will make a piece immune to combat decay? Will the conditiion always the same forever no matter if you get killed or heavy combat for weeks? Never need to repair? What about armor break? I read that swordsman has that and can break armor but will it ACTUALLY break the armor to condition 0? or just a temporary break like "debuff"?

Sorry for derailing thread but am just wondering about to protect imperial suit forever without breaking.. I'm used to EQ worlds that I can keep suit forever without worrying and can invest lot of money into armor without any feel of risk to lose it.. Here, I HAVE to worry about it.

Using an ADK will set the armor's condition to its maximum and it will stay that way. The armor will never wear out, never need to be repaired, and never break.

The Swordsman's Armor Break ability is a debuff, it doesn't actually break your armor it just temporary reduces the effectiveness of it.

Thanks a bunch! Your information is helpful. Good to know that swordsman can't physically break armor. If they do, I would scream if I see swordsmen in PVP and immediately swap my Imperial suit into cheap armor just to protect theexpensive suit heh.

Guess, I have to work hard to save up money for 6 more ADKs so can wear full suit of imperial full time (probably open 2nd account just to do artisan to make armor/shipwight -I love space combat - plus 1 extra ADK thanks to 1 character per account unlike EQ that can support multi characters per account).. It could take years I'm sure. But nice to have a goal for.. At least we all get 1 free ADK per account if have 1 year on it which is very nice reward indeed.

I think you're also misinformed/confused about the ranger "camo" kits/ability. What they are is basically a slightly better mask scent ability--not actually a cloak such as the jedi cloak or rifleman cover.
