The second prof I ever mastered was squad leader. While I enjoyed it when I was in my guild, I kind of found it not worth the skill points when we grew apart and eventually broke up. When that started to happen, I started to give up my skill points for smuggler. Both of these professions stand at their crossroads in SWG with our revamps approaching. I'm not here to say who should have gotten it first, or whatever, because frankly both profs need it (among others.)
What I wanted to do is see if we could throw each other some love with our revamps. Already, we smugglers have found we won't have any player smuggling in the game, possibly ever. I'm not asking for you guys to campaign for us, but what I would like to see is more interedependence among professions. (I hate people spamming for "solo" groups)
One of the problems we smugglers have is that we think our group evasion skills are set too high, esp at master. You guys probably know how those bonuses are given to groups with smugglers in them, so I won't explain it. I was thinking a good way to give our classes a nice reason to group together is that a smuggler being lead by a squad leader would recieve group bonuses to the evasion skill we already give.
I would propose that a smuggler will always have the highest chance of "smuggling" himself past imps. As he groups with more and more people, I would think it would get harder for him to smuggle the other players. (after all, getting one person past customs is far easier then getting 20 people past). Say for example a smuggler named Han has plus 50 to evasion skills. When Han tries to sneak his two group mates, we'll say Ben and Luke, past Imperials, it becomes harder for him to go past unnoticed. Han would always keep his plus 50, because of course the smuggler always cares for himself more then others, while Luke and Ben would take a reduction of 5 (feel free to throw around numbers if you like this proposal). Whata squad leader would do, is make sure that the rest of the group would recieve the same benefit the smuggler has. Lets say the squad leader's presence keeps the smuggler at peak awarness or something like that.
Another way to encourage our two classes to group was presented at the geo lab. The doors were sliceable to smugglers. How about a smuggler with a squad leader can one time slice the door and entire group can enter? That right there would encourage others to seek out our professions when starting a group.
I would also propose that a group with a smuggler and squad leader can either get a bonus to spice buffs or a reduction in downer time, once again increasing the attractiveness of seeking out both our professions in group hunts or raids.
Just to be clear, I'm not saying this would fix either of our profs. I'm just saying since we're both supposedly getting love, we might as well kick around ideas that help each other out right?
