Dunno if you can make macros that just insert text into your command line... I'm pretty sure all macros try and "submit" their text line by line to the game. In other words, I doubt you can make a macro that types "/sysgroup blah blah" on the command line and then leaves your caret there to do more typing. But I might be wrong.
The next-best scenario is to use an alias for your SL commands:
/alias sg /sysgroup \ff00cc
From there, you can type "/sg Follow me, you bums!" and your text will always appear purplish (assuming I remember my color codes correctly... whoa, alliteration!).

From my experience, that's correct. There is no way to map a toolbar key to a macro and be able to add text in the command line. The alias option works great though. Here are the 4 colored aliases I use:

srd: /sys \#ff0000\
syl: /sys \#ffff00\
sgr: /sys \#00ff00\
sbl: /sys \#0055ff\
When I type "/srd This is red." in the command line my group sees "Squad Leader Glynnis Kerrigan: This is red."

Aliases are awesoem. It makes it real easy to make stuff up on the fly. I do however have one macro that is /sys /#ff00ff/Everybody target %TT Which lets everybody know who I want them to hit. Many say it is really helpful.
