In tonights HOC dev chat the devs spoke if bringin to TC soon a new cert system for the CU that will be based upon combat level rather than proffession. Accept for a few quest based weapons any player with the appropraite combat level will now be able to use th intimidator and the E5 making what seems to be the only perks for SL no longer a perk.

I'm cool with that if they can now get rid of that pistol xp and make it back to SL xp and combat xp. SInce there is only 8 players now, that will also make the SL xp grind a lot slower then it currently is on live.

I dunno just seems like another "lack of love" scenario for the SL. Maybe its not that big fo deal but I was looking forward to being one of theonly ones carrying those weapons. Oh well thats how it goes.

Well they did say some not all, I hope that I can at least keep the intimidator if they are forcing us with pistol xp.

Didn't sound like they were budging there either eh? Oh well maybe there's still hope for some type of SL xp. I can;t see why they can't make a useable formula and leave at as SL.

Don't worry... There are still profession requirements, so no one is getting our Certs.

The new system has not been implemented so I have not had a chance to test it, but everything that is ours should still be ours.

The system was mainly put into place as a way to deal with players wanting to level up with another weapon but not being able to do so due to a flaw in the CL/Con system. It looks interesting, so we will just have to wait and see.

If there is any change in our certs though, you can count on it that I will fight for them.

Hey, look on the bright side - at least we're still capped at 8-man groups.

What I heard was that only Master box weapons an Quest/Loot weapons would be profession specific. So if this is true then we should just ask for the E5 an Beam Rifle to get bumped into Master SL. But yeah things will probably change because it will be crazy watching everyone switching to the highest damage weapons since everyone will be certified for them. Pikeman shooting a Flamethrower. I hope your right but on TC there's no cert in the boxes or on the weapon just a lvl. Compare that to teh DE-10 that has both a lvl and a skill cert on the weapon.

Its a most/some/very few situation. Most will be combat level, some will require prof boxes, very few will be race (only wookiee right now.) I am hoping that means the intimidator will be master SL only. But I am not holding my breath about the rifle and carbine. Those are likely to be everyman weapons now.

You can only gain xp for SL with a pistol? Is that going to change?

We are hoping /crossfingers

now for good reasons for it to not be related to pistol xp

  • multiple weapon types in the SL tree (rifle/carbine/pistol) so limiting it to pistols limits the utility of the other weapons

  • profession is based on leading groups so xp should be related to leading groups

  • no weapon specific specials other then the full auto specification
