Thread: CU: Our Role/Why no attacks?

Can anyone tell me why Squad Leader has no Weapons, with the exception of mksman ranged support, in the CU? Firstly they're requiring pistols xp... which we have to do with a CDEF pistol. Secondly, they're giving us 3 weapon certs, and yet we're still using overcharge shot from ranged support IV.


I have yet to hear anything from either Devs or irott as to why this is so?


Are we supposed to be a fully balanced combat profession, or are we just supposed to be a support profession, like before?

  1. I would say a mixture of both support and full on combat. With the generic skill mods that SL's get now they do not gimp themselves as much combatwise as they did previously. Most SL abilities will still be Support.

  2. We are trying hard to get the xp changed... pistol xp is silly

  3. With cross profession specials and weapon certifications for example: if you are a master riflemanyou would be able to use a higher level pistol and also do rifle specials with that pistol for pistol xp (not the best solution but it does help a little)

While I agree with your point on number 3, it makes it ineffective to have a melee profession to go with Squad Leader. I am currently a Master Pikeman/Master Squad Leader, simply because i prefer melee over ranged. If Squad Leader doesn't provide me any offensive capabilities, I may consider re-specing to commando or BH (Must wear my mando :-p) However, I know we are due a revamp, so the question is, will we gain offensive capabilities in either the CU, or the revamp?

We are still getting very little i the CU being lessed gimped is not where we would like to be. And we get some defense and some generic mods but it seems our group abilities are even less of value now and we got nothing new. I believe we need some specials or we need some ned leading abilities, but we hear nothing at all regarding what may becoming in the Cu.... so is this it? Is this all we get?

Understood. I wish I could be of more help - I saw stuff that was from the previous plan and it looked awesome. Hopefully they are implementing some of it at least with the CU but since the NDA still applies to me for many reasons I can't tell you what they orginally looked like. I do know that the current version is not what I expected. I can bring this up in the correspondent forums if you think that would do any good. As we have said before the SL's are getting a revamp on top of the CU so they may be holding off doing much to SLs currently (I hope this is not the case) so this is not all we get... just what we currently have.
