Thread: What goes best with master squad leader? (rifle/carb/pistols?)

ok, this is my template for after the CU

Master Squad Leader
Master Marksmen
Novice Medic
Master (Insert ranged profession here)


anyone give me some advice?

thanks in advance to all you people who've stuck it out w/ master squad leader, despite the setbacks =)

hmm well Sl requires pistol xp at the moment to grind (on CU) and you get a nice pistol at master.


You get a decent carbine cert and a so so so rifle


You get general ranged speed and accuracy so whether you take rifle/carbs/pistols/BH you will get the same modifiers. So really its all up to your preference whether you prefer the gameplay style of pistols/carbs/rifles or maybe BH.

i see what your saying, pistoleer does look pretty good, but i'd also like to dominate people w/ rifles from far away. . .but i dunno

any other suggestions? (btw what rifle is given at master sl?)

I tried Master SL/Master Marksman/Master Pistoleer on CU I liked it. But then I switched to Master SL/Master Pistoleer/ 0/4/0/4 BH which I like much better. Gives more options offensivelyslightly more speed and more defense I can still heal with battle stims though medic would certainly give more ability to heal.

None. You get cert'd for the beam rifle in the tactics line i believe the 3 block. You get the flare pistols 3 block of strategy and the E5 carbine at the 4 block of leadership. That I know of the only master cert is the Intimidator pistol.

i'm a firm belive in the fact that every template should have medic =)




Indeed quite handy but keep in mind you can heal yourself for around 1200 points every 2 minutes or so with battle stims and no medic

yeah, and i didn't meantion that bacta shot does jack sh!t

but still. . a little medic is always nice, its just me being stubborn, lol

Pistoleer I say. I worked out a neat squad leader template (based mostly for PvP) and it has over 300 effective melee and ranged defenses when grouped. Not even including rally and all of the other SL abilities and whatnot. You don't even need medic because you can heal yourself perfectly fine between stimpack timers with the high amount of defenses.

BH 0/0/4/4 (why take BH? Because you already have novice scout from SL. BH gives nice pistol moves, defenses, accuracy, mods, etc and you don't need to spend an extra load of credits to train novice brawler or whatever for commando mods. commando line doesn't give pistol moves either.)


When grouped, this template gives over 200 accuracy, over 310 melee defense, over 320 ranged defense. Plus you have a lot of terrain negotiation from BH and SL and a nice intimidator pistol and other tricks. Numbers might be a bit off, but on testcenter I've been doing very well with it.

finally found a decent template

Master Bounty Hunter
Master Squad Leader
Carbines 0044
*205/225 defense when grouped*
why carbs 0044?

-all state recoveries
-suppression fire (can't decide if i like)
-carbs defense


think a Master BH
Master SL
Pistols ????

would be better than my current temp?
