Thread: New skill suggestion for Squad Leaders
i was in a large group today that had ran by a few of my missions as i kept saying stop and i was talking to a squad leader in my guild and i had thought of an idea which seemed to be great to me.
I think Squad Leaders should get a skill that allows them to see everyones mission points in the group so he can lead 1 by 1 and cut through missions faster. Maybe a new window that shows the waypoints organized?
Just a thought, it would make SL's more wanted in large groups. I know in the groups i go in now after we do a mission it takes a few min to get everyone to respond to see who is closest and gets to be a mess.

I was grouping last night and someone had a noble idea. How about locked formations for players & pets? Just like with other people and their pets, a squad leader could gain different formations in diffferent skill trees, four formations i would think are enough, such as wedge, column, skirmish, tatical. Once a formation has been set with (/setformation wedge) command every player is locked into a formation that is attached to the squad leader, this would definetly save people time from having to follow, get lost and just generally group up when on the move or in battle. Another aspect of locking everyone into formation would be that the entire group moves as fast as the slowest person in the group...THUS having terrain movement would actually be necessary!
as it is terrain movement is only a nicety for medics and entertainers in our groups, but it doesn't really matter becuase even the fastest members eventually get so far ahead they have to wait for the slowest members right? I'll usually have master scouts running 100m ahead of everyone else and having to stop...well that kind of defeats the point of a fast moving group right? Sure it's helpful to scout out something before you get there, but long enough for them to build a camp and wait around and hour before you get there?!
Also, I think we all know what the wedge and column formations are, but i'd like to describe what i would like to see otherwise, each formation would offer "small" bonuses to the entire group while in this formation. Wedge would offer a "to hit" bonus; column formation or as it used to be called in the Civil War the road column formation would offer terrain movement bonus; the skirmish formation which is essentially everyone lining up parallel to each other, imagine a sideways roadcolumn, would offer defensive bonus; and tatical formation which could be offered in either Tatical Formation 1/Tatical Formation 2 which would split the entire group into a small squad into groups of3 or6 people, thus 18 people could now easy form fire teams of three or six people each.
Lastly I know everyone else has said many things about improvements so let me just jab this last one in here since i've never posted in this forum. But I would like to see EVERY skill level in EVERY tier have a passive bonus. Starting with Tier one skills getting a +5/ T2 = +10/ T3 = +10/ T4 = +15 and Master offering and additional +15. Now i'm perfectly content with them doing nothing else to this proffesion if they would only satisfy that one aspect of the proffesion. Let's face it, making the squad leader actions not the greatest thing in the world i can live with, but at least we deserve some kick butt passive bonuses otherwise noone will want to have us around. I suggest that we maintain one tier for melee defense bonus, one for range defense bonus, one for terrain movement, and the last for Counter-Attack bonus. I'd love to see Master squad leaders giving a team of 18 people a +55 Counter-attack bonus and deterring anyone from wanting to pick a fight. And isn't that really the whole point? That a squad leader should give rise to feelings of safety in a squad? and terror to those who would attack it? Isn't that the REAL reason why we took this proffesion? To be the quentissental part of a team that works like a well oiled machine? I read the recruitment poster and i believe the propoganda, "A team with a squad leader at it's head strikes fast and hard..." well it's time to deliver on that promise....
Most of this is actually in the Squad Leader correspondent report:
