Thread: ACTIVE BOARDS = QUICKER RESPONSE

As you may have noticed, SWG is quite plagued with bugs that need immediate attention. The reason that we (Squad Leaders) haven't seen any attention is because not enough of us are making our problems aware to the Dev team (including me). This board has one of the lowest post counts of any of the boards. When a development team has as many bugs to fix as the SWG team, you have to prioritize your fixes. I would imagine that when a full days worth of posts on a board wont even take up the first page of posts, that the Dev team prioritizes those issues pretty close to the bottom.

In short, if the boards aren't active, then the problem isn't urgent enough to issue a hotfix as quickly as possible.

So, if you are truly interested in seeing some changes with your profession, then please post your issues on the boards.

Now, with that said, don't flame the boards. That certainly doesn't help the situation. It just pisses people off. Simply write up a post that explains the problems you are having. If you see a post that describes an issue you are having, respond to it. But, most importantly, if you see that an issue hasn't been resolved and no one has posted anything recently, start a new thread. The more threads about your problem, the more likely the that the problem will swell to the Dev teams attention.

By the way, I am speaking from experience. I am a developer. If one individual at a client is complaining that they can't complete a function in my app, but 100 others are complaining about something else as a group, the group will get the attention first. It isn't that the one person doesn't matter, it's just pleasing the majority first in order to calm the storm.

I agree with your post entirely and thank you for it, but you need to relize that we have been neglected for so long that more people are dropping SL than are picking it up. That should be an indicator to the devs, although, instead I'm sure they are simply thinking its a relief because the more people that drop SL the less incentive they have to fix it.

Any time someone asks me if they should pick up SL or how I like it I tell them we are a seriously bugged and gimped class that has just gotten more broken and shortchanged (*cough* CM getting terrain nav *cough*) and that they should notwaste thier time becomming a SL. I see that sentiment echoed on this board all the time.

Unless they start doing something for us I expect this message board to become a ghost town in a few months.

I don't know about you guys but I'm am currently telling my ENTIRE Pa via email to come to these boards and post their thoughts, suggestions, and complaints. We currently have 60 + members, but I would like to pettition everyone to contact their own pa and have their members come to these boards and throw in their input. In our 60+ PA we have...and get this....three SQL's....three and i'm am one of them, a struggling novice, the other has just obtained novice squad leader, and we have one master. But everyone in our PA knows we are gimped and has assured me they will be here to continue to push for our rights.

ONCE AGAIN I CALL ON EVERYONE TO GET THIER PA INVOLVED. A PA WITH STRONG SQUAD LEADERS WILL BE A STRONGER PA!

The more of a ghost town the boards become, the even less worried the Devs become about fixing SL.

Trust me, I know that it's frustrating, but we have to let our voices be heard in order to see change.

I'm glad that you are on the boards posting your comments; because that is what will inevitably serve as the catalyst for a solution.

Excellent idea Tradale! That's exactly what we need!

It would benefit us all to have people from other professions in these boards asking for the Devs to please fix the SL profession so that they can become more effective in hunts and raids!

Do the Dev's actually read the boards?

I like reading the boards, but i hate reading flames.

I like hearing about the good things and the bad things, but i dont like hearing. "this class sucks" " we are gimped" "SL sucks" "dont play a SL"

I understand that if the Dev's read the boards then perhaps peoples complaints would be actually looked upon.

I guess all im saying is voice your opinion but please try to remain professional about it. Because nobody likes babysitting little cry babies or even listening to them. And to me if i was a dev, i would ignore every one that was being a poo poo head. And listen to those people who actually try to make the best of things.

The Devs don't necissarily read all the boards, but they are monitored bycorrespondents for each profession. Those correspondents then report back to the Devs what they have learned.

The devs don't prioritize based on how many posts there are in the forums. The prioritze based on how many people the bugs affect. They have the ability to take a look at how many SL professions there are in the game. Sorry to burst your bubble. This isn't to say that they're not looking into it. I know for a fact that they are. Keep up hope, and be patient.

I'm not saying it has anything to do with the boards, but it has to do with how many people it affects. If we can get people in the boards and show that it's not just the Squad Leaders who want the fix, but the people that hunt with the leaders and can take advantage of their skills are also concerned.

This is what can make a difference. We all know that there arent a lot of SLs, but we also know that they are needed by many. The skills that we can utilize in a group effect everyone that is participating in the group.

Basically, make the Devs aware of how many people want this profession to be fixed. Everytime I get a group together someone asks me if rally has been fixed because they know how much it can help them. Those are the people that need to in these boards letting their opinions be heard.

Optimism!

That is more of what I took the original poster to mean.. be optimistic and get non-squad leaders interested. The lower populated professions have been waiting for a while... seems like it is about time they got a look at. Perhaps now is the time to redouble the efforts?

CaptainV, a number of people would have quit as a correspondent by now. I admire your dedication.
