Greetings all,

While I wasn't looking for a way to power level, I'll admit to gleefully maxing out my SL xp twice last night after stumbling across this. I logged on and checked my friends list and noticed a master TK that I like to group with (it's a Wookiee thang). After a quick /tell volley, I was off to Ft. Tusken. I got invited to the group he was with and off we went, blasting tuskens into itty bitty peices. I informed the group leader of the bonuses that I could throw to the group if I was in charge. Bada-bing, I'm now the group leader.

Now, I'm a Pistoleer(1-1-3-1) Squad Leader (1-1-2-1) with a little bit of CH and Medic thrown in for spice. We had a group of about 6 people, two Tks, amedic, two variousmarksmen and myself. We charged into the cave, blasters andfists a flying. As tuskens started hitting the floor, I noticed that I was getting between 1 and 3k per kill. Not to shabby. (Note: I've been out of town for a few months and haven't been able to play since August).I threw a/Rally into the mix: now those same bodies that are piling up are giveing me 2 to 5k a pop. Big daddy wook is smiling. I started throwing /rally's left and right and soon die a mosthorrible death as I got ganged up on by a Tusken Warlord, sniper, and at least two other raiders.

Clone, whip out the mount and haul furry butt back to the fort. All the time traveling, I'm getting reports of people wanting to join the group. Upon arrivel, thereis a master doc and a number of other peoples that want a piece of the action. /invite, /invite, /invite etc... We now had a group of 14./Ralley time! The TK's go nuts, asdo the rest of the group and low and behold, I'm knockin down 8 to 12k per kill.By this point, I'm estatic! We took the fort and held it for an hour without loosing anyone. Durring that hour, I had to rest do tomy incredibly low mind pool, and was happy to note that I was still getting SL exp even though I wasn't fighting. Ihad started the night witharound 100k of SLxp; now, I was sitting at my max of 700k.WOOT!!! Time to go train. Easy enough, /Rally, /SteadyAim and charge. Dead Wookiee. Clone, run to bestine to train, get volley fire (oh I couldn't wait to use this) and haul furry buttback to the fort...

Here's the part that I am so glad that we had a master doc, well two actually by the time I got back. We caught a Warlord in the open, thenow four TK's move in to open up a can of whoop arse on said Warlord and I order a volley fire, just as a whole pile of other tuskens spawn all around us. The volley fire worked and the warlord was ripped appart, and for a millisecond, I was dancing aroundas giddy as a schoolboy with a new toy. Then, EVERY STINKIN' Tusken within range of me,as one unit, turns and fires on ME!!! DeadWookiee. Both docs run over, I'm res'ed andfully healed in about 2seconds. Ok that was weird. Pick the nastiest Tusken in the crowd and/Volleyfire! Dead tusken. The Tuskens AGAIN/volleyfire back at me. Dead wookiee. Doc's do their thing and I'm back up. Hmmmm.... this isn't good. Ok, I got it this time:/Volleyfire,target obliterated, duck into building and the little bastards start shooting thru the walls to get at me.... run like hell out of the fort and rest. Mean while, I've noticed that I'm getting 12 to 16k per kill.

Sorry about that, got lost in the memory of that fight. Gawd it was great. Now, I know we are a broken class and that compared to other combat classes, we kinda suck, but I did notice a few things last night that may help out in the future:

#1/Rally works (or worked) a lot more often when you are already engaged in a fight. It also seems to use less mind than ifthere are no shotsbeing fired. Give it a try, even if just one person in your group is engaged.

#2 If you use /Volleyfire against a group of MOB's, or at least semi-intelligent MOB's, prepare to have a /volleyfire pointed at you. I couldn't help noticing, and cursing enough to make my wife blush, that EVERY time I ordered one, I became THE target for EVERY tusken in range.

#3 Even if you do have another combat speciality, let your group do the work and stay in the middle, close enough to see and support, but far enough back that you are not a primary target (/volleyfire not included in this statement)

#4 The bigger your group, the more xp you get.

I managed to max out my xp twice last night over the course of 3 hours (700k the first time and 900k the second).A lot of it was spent resting, trying to recover my lost mind pool. I believe the biggest single SL XP award was around 18k. We may be a broke class, but its just too easy to make xp for us. Might as well, eh?

Comments welcome. Boy give a Wookiee a microphone and he just don't shut up... lol

#1: A number of people have reported the opposite: that rally works best out of combat. I would mark it up to luck.

Don't know about volleyfire. I've used it less than ten times since I got it as it did less damage than people using their queued special attacks and causes no state changes.

XP is too easy in a large group. Then again that might be on purpose so that we will all master it, quit and stop complaining so they don't have to fix us.

I have to master sl...might be fun. A lot of negitive on the boards though. So where are the raiders and this fort located at? Where is a good place to pick up a good group?

I've used volley fire when people have been afk, its great when you can get group members to shoot newly spawned enemies when you need them too. heh

I really wish I could see tangible evidence of the difference we're making with the defence buffs, the steady aim, whatever else.

I still find that the costs for most of these features, ie: /rally, /steadyaim, /retreat... are way too much.

I did enjoy your story though. It was very entertaining to read. I've been a Squad Leader since early September. I'm only a Tactician/Strategist working on Commisar, and eventually Field Commander.I wasn't going to learn mobility until I learned the rest.

I'm hopeful we'll start getting some real tools to work with.
