its an interesting question. What are you looking to be effective in? SL will not increase your personal combat ability. If that's what you want then master Carbineer or Swordsman. If you are looking to increase the abilities of your group then master Carbineer or Swordsman--with the caveat that SL will hopefully get a little bit of work and win in this category in the future.

I am master in both SL and Carbineer. It's a no brainer for me which to drop if I need to free up skill points. The squad leader skills are not potent and would not be sorely missed. Carbineer at least gives significant and concrete benefits. There is no fix in sight for the SL class which needs a full overhaul as opposed to the bug fixing and tweaking that the carbineer class needs.

Hello to all. I posted this in the CarbineerForum too, so I figured I would try and get different viewpoints.I have been working towards becoming a Carbineer/Swordman/Squad Leader since launch. Unfortunately I can only master one of these professions. Right now I have0-0-0-1 in theSL tree (SL XP has been pretty slow until recently). I am effective in PVE and a lame duck in PVP. Is it worth it to get Master SL, or should I split my skills more evenly around all three professions? Any insight would be helpful.

What I would suggest (if you are going the MSL route) is to go further up the carbineer tree and get some good support attacks. Then only go up the Swordsman line that gives the defenses.

I am doing a template very much like this, yet I have gone up the pistoleer line instead. This way I have a backup close range weapon if I get into trouble not to mention good attacks like stopping shot and fan shot.

But I only play support, I let my squad do the heavy damage. I just use KD, blind, stun effect shots with my carbine to help them out. And carbines can do quite a bit of damage.

This is just one way to go.. and you may not want to go master SL. So good luck in your quest.
