Thread: Getting good SL xp with pets.

As a MCH, I am grouping with 3 pets (usually 1 "good" pet and 2 small pets) plus a probot droid.

I'm finding that as I grind toward Master Pistoleer, I am getting about 20-24k SL xp for each "Seething Bol" mission I do on Dantooine, and I can do those missions pretty fast solo with fanshot.

As I gain Pistoleer xp, that roughly translates to 3/4 as much SL experience. So 30k pistol xp per lair is roughly 24k SL xp per lair.

Which means, by the time I did 3 columns of the Pistoleer profession (because the 4th column requires combat xp), I am at least half way thru SL.

It was always my intention to finish SL by grouping once I'm done with Pistoleer... but now that I'm half-way there, I'm wondering if grouping would really be faster, or easier... maybe I should just keep "grinding" with pets once I'm done with pistoleer. Plus, I haven't tried the old bleed+grenade trick to see how much more combat xp I could get.

I know that getting groups together can be a pain sometimes... so, what do you guys think?

Have you had generally good experiences putting together groups of people for hunting trips, or is it more trouble than it's worth?

Or should I just keep doing what I'm doing now that I'm done grinding Pistoleer until I'm done with SL too?

Thanks for your input.

(No, a holocron didn't tell me to do this.)

I think your problem is you are gonna run out of skillpoints....you aren't dropping the MCH are you?

MCH + Master Pistoleer + Master Squad Leader is like >300 skillpoints.

Anyway...the fastest way to make SL for a "soloist" is Fort Tusken. Hands down. Just stand there and keep inviting anyone you see...and/or ask to joing another Squad Leaders group...and get them to pass leadership on to you.

Only 24K exp per lair?
What are you hunting, I remember after the final change to the exp of getting around 20K per kunga I hunted with my groups, and around 18K for most other difficult creatures out there as well. Dont ask the huge ammount I recieved for hunting Kryat Dragons on Tat.
The way your doing it now, you are not acting as a SquadLeader.
Grab a squad and Lead them, then your actually doing your Job chummer.

24k per lair may seem low for a group, butI was getting that much solo.

You're right about the skillpoints.

I never intended to Master Pistoleer, it just kind of happened that way.

So, I'll definitely be giving some of that back at somepoint in order to finish SL.

Actually since the SL Exp is based off of group size you would want a bigger group.
And that was per Kunga not for the lair. There were usually 3 sometimes 4 of them there at once. So DO the Math and figure out which way is best. Anyone can get a group and lead them well, as long as you plan out some basics before you do it. Hell you might even let someone else lead and you simply hit the button once in awhile to do /rally or /formup.

Get a group and then earn the exp on the tougher missions that are only possible with a large powerful group.

Its not that size alone, its also the amount of xp gained. With the 300-400 damage every 2 seconds a creature does that doesn't mean very much xp. I was getting 500k xp every trip to the squill caves to get my final column after the patch(most people have forgetten how hard it really was...) , and that only took half an hour.

First of all your pets will take away from the damage you do which lowers the amount of combat xp you gain (The same way bleeds don't count towards your xp either). So in essence the damage you do also takes away from the combat xp your group gains... but since you get xp for it as well it all balances out.

Its more economical to group with players.

well, actually...

1. No, the pet attacks the liar, and stays on the lair, so I do ALL the damage to the creatures myself. The creatures heal the lair, so when they are all dead, I pull the pet off the lair and I do all the damage to the lair myself also. I get full credit for ALL the kills.

2. No, actually bleeds WILL count toward combat xp if you throw a trap or grenade at the creature next before shooting it again.

3. No, it's more economical to do missions (I made a million credits just from missions) and harvest themeat.

I can group 3 pets and1 droid... so I have a group of 5 whenever I do these "solo" missions...

which means I getsquad leader xp equal to 80% (4/5) of my weapon xp.

Still, it seems faster (not more economical, but faster)to group with people at the tusken fort... however, that's a pain too because there are other Squad Leaders there too looking for XP, and they whine and complain if you have more people in your group than they do.

jesus christ

people are getting SL xp for pets now?

as if it wasnt already easy......now you can get SL experienc eby being ALONE!!!!!!!!

imagien that.... a SQUAD leader getting experience by hunting ALONE.

Thulium take note and get this nerfed ASAP.....this is retarded if pets are giving SL xp.

and before anyoen flames me for this.

SL is supposed to be there to lead groups of PLAYERS.

allowing people to gain levels by hunting with PETS allows players to completely work aroudn the entire concept of grouping with people and actually being a squad leader.

Any true SL should be having a heart attack.

I meant more economical, xp wise... but you are correct in how you gained your xp. Those are all workarounds for getting cheap combat xp.

This is a good tactic for solo hologrinders... not for dedicated Squad Leaders. And since you say you are not a hologrinder... Im confused.

you're not kidding....

I was amazed AMAZED how easy it was when I went to back the Tusken Fort today.

I finished Master SL in 4 hours.

That has to be the most trivially easy profession to master of them all.
