Thread: New SL seeking opinions
The ones I'm most interested in short term are those in the leadership tree. Does "form up" work as it's supposed to? And if so, how high is the fail rate?
Basically just looking for some feedback on what SL has been like for those who have beeen doing it for a while...what's it's added or taken away...the good the bad and the ugly...
Fill me in y'all, but don't clog my thread with random bitching or exaggerated truths. I get enough of that at home... Thanks.
I am doing sl right now. I admit its because my holo told me to do it and i will have to drop it when i get it because of lack of skill points. However with that said i would definately go up tactics first. It gives nice group melee def. I then you go up the steady aim tree to help out the ranged fighters, lastly choose either of the last ones as they ar eless important in my opinion. All in all though the Squad leader tree goes by very fast. I got 1 million in sl exp in one night. I think the group was about 7 or so and i was getting close to 8k per kill on longhorns and hurrtons. Hope the info helps but in all reality i have not seen too many beniftis from going sl other than it getting me closer to the fscs sorry to say. That and the exp is fast

I'm good with getting the xp. It's been pretty quick so far.
well, the 2 abilities I used often are formup, to get rid of dizzy and stun in PvP can be very usefull, and rally gives good modifier to defence and accuracy. ( accuracy is visible, it really helps )
If you've got a combat medic, /boostmorale is an awesome way to prolong the life of your squad. As a matter of fact, I think Combat medics with mind wounds are the only instance in which that skills achieves the effect the designers intended for it: Keeping the group fighting longer.
Yes, please don't fill this guys thread up with random bitching, use my "Keep squad leaders like they are!"thread for that.
/rally is a great command, when it works. I have actually had squad members tell me it helps them. I have also had members tell me not to use it. It prevents scouts from harvesting, squad members from sitting, doctors from reviving, players from looting (however I have noticed that I as the squad leader can loot while rallied) The fail rate on it is too high, especially for the mind cost.
/steadyaim is another great ability. I'm not sure if it ever fails, but between it and rally your less accurate players almost never miss. Commando with rocket launcher? No problem! "STAY ON TARGET!"
The passive defences are good for noob players going up against noob monsters, but for PVP and big critters the bonuses don't do much.
Never really used /formup. I got it right before I decided to drop squad leader and master a combat profession. I was pretty useless as a smuggler/squadleader, and never got to lead squads because of all the other squad leaders in our guild. (Yes, the Guard has like 4 master squad leaders, and a few other novices. Doh! I don't think I was supposed to let you rebels know that because us squad leaders are so uber). My group on raids would usually consist of myself, my wife, and two half naked female TKA masters, who would bitch at me if I used rally because it kept them from their meditation. Although how the two of them could meditatebeing as hyper and crazy as they were I have no idea.
Good luck, I hope you learn to love squadleader! I'll be saving my points till it is worth the expenditure, which will still be a couple of months.
