Thread: Thought of a Possible Command Change-Demoralize
Hey all,
I know this probably wouldn't be seen as a change, since nothing in SL seems to ever get changed, so i just wanted to throw this idea out. If any of you have been hunting w/ a Master Doctor or Combat Med, u know that there is really no point for us to use Boost Morale, actually that command could be damaging to one of your group members, esp if they are a carbineer, and all of a sudden their action hams depletes and they are incapped, b/c u just did the boost morale command.
I see this command as a waste. so what i was thinking was changing the command from boost morale, to demoralize. It sounds better for one! Plus i think that it would be a great command to use when going against big mobs. I was thinking the demoralize command would knockdown, or kd, every creature that was attacking you for 15-20 secs. Most knockdowns only last like 5 secs, at least the ones i use last that long.
The command works on the principal that since u have effectively demoralized the opposition, they lose the will to fight, for a while anyways, and it gives ur group an opportunity to take advantage of the kd. This would help make our commands, which i barely use anyways, more effective and productive when huntings. Other commands i never use are steady aim, retreat, and form up. Believe me they don't really do a whole lot. I've only got 3 skill for carbineer and i use those more often than i use my own squad leader commands, which is pretty sad, since sl is supposed to be "the profession" for hunting groups. Anyways, just wanted to throw out an idea and what people's reponses were to it.

i thinkdemoralize is a good idea for a command change, but i think auto knockdown is a bit extreme for an entire mob.
i could see the effect being used to give the mob negative modifiers to attack and defense or even make them scatter similar to warning shot, but fora mob (have them run about 20 meters back to keep them from meleeing or something).
just my opinion...
It's a good idea, but I'm sure it'll tick alot of players off
i like this idea but i have two things to add
1) do not get rid of Boost Morale completly, Boost Morale is a really good skill if it would do what its supposed to do which is spread damage and not wounds. if Boost Morale is every fixed to do what its ment to do then it could be useful. Demoralize can be an additional skill
2) cretures dont really have morale.... i dont think theres anyway for a humaniod to effect a cretures moral, creats fight out of feat or hunger. demoralize would probably only work agenst players and humanoid NPCs
and i agree the 30 second KD is a bit extream, but the idea is something we can build off of. right now all SL skills only effect or our groups but we could expand into skills that effect enemy groups negitively...
ack i need to stop posting when im not completly awake...
Correstion: cretures fight out of fear or hunger.

I like the idea of effecting our enemies. What about a reverse rally that we cast on every one in combat in a 64m radius? (except squad members)
Another idea: It could be like an are warcry. Actually, I like this idea the most. ![]()
Keep it up people, nice job. ![]()
Heh. I thought you were going to go a different direction with this idea: Demoralize your own group.
Not being snide here, just that it seem the opposite of boostMorale would be a lot more useful in groups with medics. Make a whipping boy, drop everyone's wounds on him, and let the medic heal them all at once.
Really pretty vicious, but I imagine it would get a lot more use than boostMorale does....
That said, I really like the idea of affecting enemies as well. Even if it's mostly limited to humanoid NPCs--that fits with my concept of SL (as opposed to Ranger, kinda).

Err, I think the thing that would make the most sense is to just rename Boost Morale to Demoralize, and keep it the way it is.
I mean, all of a sudden all of the squad's got wounds, just because poor Squaddie Joe's hurt bad. That's... demoralizing more than anything.
