Thread: Delete the Squad Leader class
May be the Squad Leader Class should be removed all together? and just start over
1. The Class doesn't benifit me, Its not like people go out of there way to use the /makeleader command
2. The Class doesn't seem to benifit anyone were grouped with
3. I'm a combat specialest, but a commando or BH can punk me in 2sec flat
4. A commando or BH can take out my group of, 1 Doctor, 1 Pistoleer, 1 Novice TKA, and a Carbiner, with just 1 pet. And I don't even have the stat points to use the retreat command
Don't get me wrong I like the idea behind the Squad Leader class, it just isn't ready for use. And it seems like alot of people would like to turn us into something were not. I would like to sugget deleting this class return our points to the skill pool. And make a Ent/Medic class and call it BARD! And then we could have skills like: Share Damage pool points, Share wound points. Heal Dizzy, Heal Blind, Heal Poision, Heal etc, Boost Range Def, Boost Meele Def, Travel Cross Country, etc. I think you get the picture.
My envison of a Squal Leader would be a battle field master, there should be no equal ( when group with other people ).How can you lead a group if you can't even fight worth a crap? Who would follow you to the death star if your so unheathy( all points going to mind ) your going to be the 1st one to die? Squad Leader should be about enabling others to do things never possiable by there selfs, strength in numbers! Yes I do agree with some wound healing/sharing and some damge pool/sharing but where are these skills coming from?I don't rember being a medic
It's simple the core of the class is just broken. Why do i need to make camps? Terrain movement would be ok if it work, but I find myself leaving people behind all the time and i've only gone 40m with pauses to wait( and no im not riding a mount).
I understand most of your points, but I really don't think your proposed solution is the right way to go. SOE has already stated they intend to fixother broken professions first, make another combat pass-thru, and make other changes to force groups to develop profession-interdepent tactics. This being the case, I would be more than happy to wait another couple of months until they fix every other thing wrong with combat and allthe other professions and then fix us last. That way we would actually have something to lead, which would in turn give us a far greater reason for existence. Deletion is not the answer. Patience is.
Sorry you feel we are so worthless, it seems alot of people do. Although we are highly flawed and have some urgent issues that need adderssing, as this game has progressed and evolved I see our use more and more.
Super players on my server have been able to create characters with insanely high ranged defenses, putting them sometimes in the upper 60"s. This makes them incredibly hard to hit and as such, very threatening.
Hard to hit that is, for everybody who doesn't have a squad leader handy. Steadyaim/Rally and no matter what the ranged D of your opponnent, no matter if you are in your ideal range or not, when a squad leader uses those ablities on you, your accuracy will skyrocket and you will not miss your target.
Still though, that super player could be pretty offensively powerful, having an extra 30 ranged d could come in handy. Yeah 30 Ranged D the amount you usually get for mastering an elite profession, OR just for goruping with a master squad leader.
Taking my guild, I have watched the combat screen, when I rally my guys, they dont get shot their ranged D is uber now that they're all masters as am I the entire group becomes uberized defensively. The other guys dont hit us for squat especially when rallied, but we land every shot, we strike fast and hard.
Combine this group with a master doctor for buffing, a dancer for mind enhanceing and a CM for the great mindheal, and ranged healing ablitiles and you sir have created a super group. Unhittable, super fast and deadly accuracy.
We could definetly use more, but with the changes this game has taken, we are not uselss, far from it.

We are 6 months post-release.
Deleting the profession would be better than going another month without a single fix.
But they won't do that. They need the profession in the game for their retarded method of unlocking the FS slot. Can anyone think of a reason they put the fast-track xp system in? I can.
People also make the wrong comparisons. They compare us to combat medics and doctors. Squad leaders aren't healers, healers are always going to be outstandingly useful to a group, and its easy to notice what effect healers have. You're incapped, bamn now your not. That healer just saved your life, and with squad leaders lacking that hero factor, we are often overlooked and our usefuless not always perceived.
Strategy line is our most worthless, only because volleyfire fails so **edit** much and its not that great a move to begin with. However when grouped with 20 volleyfire becomes insanely powerful, using it in a group that size puts an ST down in a single volley, as well as any player.
Which Is why I assert that we need more power moves, the squad leader needs more offensive capablity, something that takes advantage of a whole groups efforts and gives them an extra boost in offense. Like I think we should have an ability that would make our men always hit for their max damage. Using high damage spread weapons like laser carbs, laser rifles, or FWG's can have a satisfying feeling, but the groan when you only hit for your bare minimum is gamebreaking. If we could just make it so our group always struck the max, then you'd see people begging for squad leaders. Combine it with our defense bonsus's and we will become a flavor of the month, I guaruntee.

There are not always positive things to say, and sometimes the only way to fix things is to tell some one about it. Granted there maybe be some good things in the class that I have over looked. But im not the only one that feels I have wasted my skill points on this class.
On a good note though, the xp gaining is so off the scale I was able to master the class in a week without even trying. Also this may or may not have been one of my required classes to unlock the FS. And its not like im lossing anything by giving up the class. I only play with 2-6 people at the most, so were never going to brign down an AT-ST with volley fire. Never though about using volly fire ina group of 20 people though. The few times i've been in a group that size, it was hard enough just to get to the same location without someone getting killed on the way there.

Do you like the SL class as it stands now? If so why? Ifnot, why?

they would have to make another PROFESSION and BARD WOULD BE WORTHLESS casue it would TAKE AWAY from ent!!!!
if you dont feel right about this profession then GIVE IT UP!!
