Thread: Idea for a new Squad Leader ability...
I'm not a SL myself, and haven't read through all of your forum, so maybe someone has suggested something like this before, but here goes...
Give Squad Leaders a new skill mod called "Defensive Coordination" or something similar. At master level, the Squad Leader should have a total of around +25 to "Defensive Coordination". The number would act as a percentage and would determine how much of the Squad Leader's other defensive skills are passed on to the group. For example, let's say that you're a MSL who is also a Pistoleer, and you have a Dodge skill of +20, and a Defense vs. Stun skill of +40. Because you're a MSL, you would have a "Defensive Coordination" skill of +25, meaning that 25% of your personal defensive skill mods are passed onto the group, thus everyone who grouped with you would get +5 to Dodge and +10 to Defense vs. Stun. If you had any other defensive skills, they would also be included. Here's a list of all the skills I can think of that "Defensive Coordination" would work with...
- Defense vs. Stun
- Defense vs. Blind
- Defense vs. Posture Change (Up and Down)
- Defense vs. Knockdown
- Defense vs. Dizzy
- Defense vs. Intimidate
- Dodge
- Counterattack
- Block
- Melee Defense
- Ranged Defense
I could also see the skill applying to Taking Cover and Cover thus allowing a Squad Leader who specializes in rifles to more effectively lead a group of Rifleman. (Assuming that the bugs with cover are ever fixed.)
The only real problem I can think of with the above idea is that for it to be useful it would require a squad leader to dabble in other proffessions in order to get the defensive bonuses he or she wanted, however on the plus side, it would allow a squad leader to customize his bonuses to more readily meet the needs of the friends he normally groups with.
So, what does everyone think? Would you guys like a skill like this? Would it be usefull? Would it be too unbalancing?

I think it's a decent idea, but complicates the profession a little too much. However adding modfiers more than just melee and ranged defense would be great.
