So.. my goal is to master squad leader.. but I have a problem.. for a while my play time is going to be on very off-peak hours so making groups will be rough at best..
I have come upon an idea though.. I have some friends that I could get to logon their characters and sit them in town grouped with me.. and maybe also bring out pets and group them up as well..
Doing this I think I can get 6 members in the group including myself and the pets.. Will these people help the SL exp if they are out of range? Will the pets being grouped help the exp at all? (what if I have the pets follow me so they stay in range??)

Nope, if they're out of range it won't do you any good. What exactly that range is I don't know - other than it isn't very far. I led a group to the Geonosian labs - guys right around the corner fighting their on little respawn didn't grant any xp's (it was a group of 20 folks...kinda like herding cats!) Not real sure about the pet grouping thing. I have a feeling that the more your group members use special skills in a fight the more you'll get xp's...kinda like a ranger getting more camp xp's from a wider variety of actions going on in their camp. If a creature handler uses his pet to conduct the fight, I'd bet you'd get more SL xp because he got more CH xp in the use of their pet.
