What is the effective range where you will continue to receive SL xp? I was at the beginning of the Genosian Cave last night and I was receiving xp for a group mate at the very end of the Cave. Seems like the distance is pretty high, but when I am outside it seems that distance is reduced.

You get XP for your group member's kills so long as their stats remain in your Group window. So that's somewhere around 150m, but can momentarily get as high as 400 or 500m before they go "Out of Range". You get the multiplier applied to all your own kills all the time, regardless of range.
Now, when fighting "inside" (Cave's, Corvette, warren) I think the code changes slightly and the group range becomes almost unlimited, so long as you're all inside the same dungeon. They can do this because they pretty much "forget" the rest of the world when you go inside a dungeon, effectivly increasing the available bandwidth.

I will have to do more testing on this to determine for sure, but it seems that the outside world is not completely forgotten. I still see critters on my radar that are definitely outside.
Now I think I agree about the inside of buildings / dungeons making the SL xp change. In fact it really makes sense, as you would want to encourage ppl to group in a dungeon.
