Thread: Airial Support

I know that this was first brought up on the "Where's the 60 gunner?" thread and I don't want to try and steal anyones idea, but I just wanted to break it away from that thread to be focused on here. So it sounds to me that everyone would like the option of being able to call in some form of an air-stike right? Well I was thinking that this could be something that isn't so much as a new skill, but a form of personnel support that only a Master Squad Leader would be able to requisition. You go to your Imperial or Rebel recruiter and from the personnel support list you select "Airial Support". I'm imagining this from the Imperial point of view first because, well I'm an Imperial. After requisitioning the "Airial Support" you are given a radio in your datapad. Let's say you are out on Dantooine and run across a Large Rebel Base. The squad leader sets himself up on an overlooking hill and types /airstrike. Your view is shifted to the view that is given when placing a structure, I'm imagining three circles that slightly overlap one another. You determine where you wish to direct the strike and right-click. View returns to normal and after a slight delay the roar of twin ion engines fills the area as three TIE bombers come in low and drop their payload over the designated area before flying up and out of view. Now for the Rebels imagine the same scenario but replace Large Rebel Base with large Imperial Base and the TIE bombers are instead Y-Wings. As for neutral Squad Leaders? I'd have to say that this is just another encouraging factor to join in the Galactic Civil War. As for the faction point cost of an air-strike I'd say this it can only be used once and it pretty solidly secures a quick victory that it would cost, uhm...somewhere around 1400 fp? I'd like to hear what the rest of you think about this idea and what you think might be wrong with it as well as what you like. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

That would be cool, but there would be the development problem(s), and one other problem. Factions: If the Squad Leader is Rebel, but the rest of the group is Imperial...TieBombers or Y-Wings?

Oh, I forgot something about the payload of the whole air-strike, I would think that each TIE bomber or Y-Wing would only drop one bomb, so three bombs dropped in sequence over the designated target area. Any feedback to these ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Simple. Make it like any other SL skill so that only the group leader can use it and you can only carry 1.

Well since this would be a faction pet of a sort it would only be able to be used when you are overt, and as I understand it an overt Rebel can never group with an Imperial even if he is covert and vice versa.

If you are a neutral SL you can call a "peko peko airstrike". You´ll see how peko pekos flies over the enemy target and drops their excrements .

Naaaw, seriously. Its not bad but I think It may became overpowered: A group with2 or 3 SL with 1 airstrike each, may kill "everything" at the target zone.

PD: Sorry about my english if I made any mistake, I´m spanish

You can go with 3 SL, with 3 groups of 2 members (like the SL and a lvl 10 kaadu), and call 3 airstrikes. I´m not saying it`s not a good idea, but maybe sounds better with some kind of limit, like, only 1 airstrike at the same zone per hour.

Its just my oppinion

If this were a faction-point based perk of the profession and actually were to have the effect an aerial bombardment should have, the faction point cost would and should be signifcantly higher. 1400 is just a drop in the bucket as far as faction points go, would allow bombardments on a daily basis, and would get old rather quickly. Keep in mind that this is coming from an Imp who thinks three AT-STs supporting one foot soldier is just stupid...
