I want to do SL on my main character and be in the battle not an afk bot in some house. And I had 2 combat profs that i was thinking about to go with it, either TKM/SL or Master Rifleman/SL. Im leaning more towards the rifleman one, but any input someone could give would be appreciated. And I apologize as template questions are brought up constantly in prof forums

I'll give you the same answer that I gave to Julak earlier today, that I would go rifleman because you can better assess the battle as a ranged character than you would a melee

indeed, and once you get dizzy you cant do anything! So being a tank or close combat char isnt realy good for sl

Caution: Many SL commands cannot be given while prone(favorite rifleman position)
Carbineer seems to be a good choice as well.

Pistoleer's also nice because you get those state defenses like ones for dizzy. However, Carbineer can actually dish out those annoying status ailments

I'd actually prefer carbineer over pistoleer because:
1) Ideal range for a carbine is generally greater than 21meters which puts you out of range, if you set up properly, fromthose annoying Master Brawlers/ NS Elders trying to knockdown, or apply states
2) Carbineers are master of the knockdown. Invaluable to assisting you squad knock the snot out of something.

I was thinking about switching to Carbineer, but I didn't like the fact that the weapon certifications were a bit lacking. I like the idea of having a gun for most damage types. Pistoleers can knockdown too, albiet more weakly

With carbine you can do Heat (EE3), Energy (laser), Acid (Nym's or DX-6) so I guess you miss out on Stun and kinetic that you could get with a pistol, but your knockdowns and posture downs are really powerful. And if you are out of range from the Melee guys you wil have an easier time doing the SL thing.
I'm a MBH/MSL and when I'm in a group, unless we are targeting a specific thing that requires the mind pool or kinetic damage, I pretty much always use my carbines.
