Hello everyone,

I was talking to a friend of mine yesterday who is a Master Armorsmith/Chef when the person was telling me they had to drop Armorsmith in 5 days or so,so they could try to grind out some other professions. The person doesn't want a jedi so I asked why do it? Now this is where I kinda get foggy on details and need your help.

From the gist I get, due to the Fanfest, they are going to award bonus skill points that are related to the number of professions you have mastered. They are broken down to 4 catagories (healing, building, offence, defence... again am not sure if that is correct) and if you have/had say all of the 'defensive' catagories, you will get a bonus to your defences at like a +10. Pretty much this is to reward holo-grinders because so many people did it and screws those of us who were content to play what we wanted to play.

Any insight on this would be a great help.

Needless to say I was not very happy with that news, as in my opinion the holo-grinders are rewarded with a badge and a Jedi slot. This feels like I am being punished because I knew what I wanted to play and I stuck with it. Of course along the way I dabbled in various Professions but I never mastered them because my goal was to get SL. Now, if they did something related to a bonuse to length as a Master of a Profession to balance it out, I might not be as salty as I am feeling right now. But I doubt that is the case.

But it took me /months/ to get SL because of the xp difference and change-over that happened last November. And by the time it happened, I had allready nearly mastered SL anyways. It is why most of us who suffered through that time and period are alittle bitter to those who ground it out in 3-6 hours and ditched it shortly after that to move on to another profession. It cheapens our efforts. To again use Band of Brothers as an exsample, the unit as a whole got a badge for making the jump on Normandy, even the guys who /didn't/ jump in Normandy and were back in the States still going through boot camp.

I honestly hope that I am mistaken or mis-understood what I was told. Irott, if you could direct me to a Dev or a Dev to read this, I would be greatful.

Ok... now that I reread what you posted. What your friend is most likely talking about is the Force sensitive bonuses you get prior to going jedi. You do not get extra skill points for this and if he is trying to get these extra bonuses, dropping Armorsmith is just counterproductive (I am assuming he wants the bonuses to be a 14pt AS).

We are currently testing this system on Test Center right now.

So, although it is true that your position in the previous jedi slot grind system (where you have to master 5 professions) will carry over to your level of advancement in the new quests to unlock jedi (which are the quests that give you theses FS skills), dropping your profession to take it up later just doesnt make sense. Plus AS is one of the worst grinds there is.
