Last night while getting XP @ the Fort I had a huge group of people with mixed faction. I was Neutral so the overts were allowed to enter my group. One player asked to be invited and I said no problem not realizing that he was a Jedi. Well it went fine for a while until one of the Overt Imps used an area attack and the saver went flying. Then have the Imp players starting attacking the Jedi and the Reb players started to defend and the new players were just in AWW! Now I am being selfish but I wanted everyone's butt in the Fort killing Tusken for the XP not playing graba$$ in the desert. So I try to send a few /sys messages that people need help in the fort and even told a joke to distract them. Well the /tells start to come that I need to kick IMP/REB faction so I can invite more of the IMP/REB faction that is on the way to help with the Jedi. The Jedi asked for help but since I am still neutral I can't attack or help even if I wanted to.
Well the Jedi/Reb players prevailed but no deathblows were given. Actually once the reinforcements got their I had a group of 20. I maxed XP 4 times. It worked out for me and the group continued to hunt together. Some people were trying to convince me that what I was doing was wrong in allowing opposite factions into the same group and that I would not kick any offenders. All I wanted was the XP. Was I wrong? Is there an unwritten code? Please adive.
BTW I am now 01/3/4/3 SL after last night.
Thanks

Well, I'm one of those who thinks that a neutral Squad Leader is an oxymoron, and this is just one example of the problems of being neutral. If you're only doing SL for your FSCS, then I have no problem with what you did. However, if you plan on staying an SL, then you must immediately come up with your own ground rules for faction-aligned players. I wouldn't accept any overts into my group at all if I were in your position in order to avoid the situation you just described.
I kick anyone who doesn't follow my few instructions, especially those who GTEF or attack targets I instruct them not to. You can't expect an Overt player to not attack an enemy Overt, and as such you have no control over his or her actions. This only leads to disaster as an SL, and you'd be wise IMHO to simply disallow any overts into your neutral group.

Well I am only 200 fp away from going rebel. I just haven't done it yet. Thanks for the feedback. I figured that this will eventually work itself out once I declare a faction. I was just looking for some professional guidelines.

38 Views and no replies? I am just looking for a seasoned SL to put in their 2 cr's so maybe I can avoid a future incidents. I want to help make this profession a sought out profession from other players.

There are no hidden rules. Make your own, its your squad. If someone doesnt like your rules, too bad. They can leave, and miss out on +30 to ranged/melee defense, and instant dizzy/stun cures.

That is a funny story...
I am Imperial, and in an Imperial only guild. so i have never encounterd this problem. The others are right, you must set your own rules, and tell the group the rules you have. SL's must be direct with their group, if i have to i will kick Guild Members out of my group if they get out of line.
Good luck with your Neutral-ness

Tuskens are both a threat to rebels and imperials, the mission was to clear out fort tusken, and they neglected their orders...kick em back to bootcamp!
