Hello everyone. I don't know a whole lot about SL so please just bear with me here. I am trying to build a really good pvp template and someone told me that squad leader is really good to have in a pvp group. I was just wondering what everyone thinks of the merits of SL in a pvp group. Is it worth all the skill points? If it is, I will likely be the one in our group to do it, so I am also looking for advise on the rest of my templete. I am looking for something that is geared just for pvp. I have 2 accounts so I am trying to turn this character into just a pvp player for now. I am currently almost master fencer but I have no problem dropping some/all of it if the skill points would be better spent elsewhere. I am hoping for a lot of defense stacking as well as decent offensive ability. I have not decided on melee or ranged. What does everyone think? Please help.

Id say the best bet is to master rifleman along with squad leader. Squad leader is very useful in pvp, form up gets rid of the groups dizzy and stun states and thats HUGE. You can also give you squad permanent burst run with the retreat skill provided you are buffed and if you plan on pvping you will be buffed. You also get the group terrain negotiation which is key for your mele tanks that cant climb a hill to save their lives quite litteraly at times.

The mele and ranged defence that the group gets is nice as well.

The reason I say rifleman for you is because you want to stack some defences and rifleman has way more defence then carbineer and rifleman can actually dish out some damange in pvp. Its really the only good stand alone ranged profession in my opinion and you wont have enough skill poits to be a carbineer or pistoleer and pick up the BH lines to support it.

Also, I say ranged over mele because as a squad leader you need to be able to see the bigger picture and look at the larger battle to make decisions and communicate with your group. Its very difficult to do that as a fencer with 5 guys pounding on you at point blank range.

great, thanks a lot for the advise. If I do go master SL master rifleman, what would be a good way to spend the extra 38 skill points? I would like as much defense as possible.

You aren't gonna get much defense out of 38 points. I put the rest of my points into Medic -- 3440, I believe. Lets you fix bleeds (not very useful, but eh), drag people (good in base assaults), and use Stim C's pretty fast. It's a total group-play template, so be warned... you WILL get raped 1 on 1.

a pretty good one that i am working on is Master SL,master rifle and 0/0/4/0 pistol. It gives you somewhat decent state resitances that you cannot get otherwise. I do thikn that a SL is best suited for a ranged profesion also, Rifleman would be the best damage dealer while carbineer would be for the states and KD. I don't think pistols would be a good choice for a squad leader, but thats just me. I do like pistols though. i have a friend who is master pistoleer, pistol line in BH, pistol line in Smuggler, and novice commando (for the launcher pistol). He kicks but. I just don't think that its meant for a SL though.

Wow I was just going to say that lol . I personally am a master sl/master rm/pistoleer 0040. It works out pretty good, those pistoleer defences will save you sometime.
