I am currently looking at taking SL, can anyone tell me can you use your skills with faction pets?

SL is obviously pretty useless by yourself, and I don't have an offical "squad", but the class would still be fun with some faction stormies if it works?

Yes, SL bonuses and skills apply as long as you are the leader of a group.

If you are grouped only with a pet, your SL xp gain will equal 1/5 of your weapons gain.

Some skills effect pets (I know rally does), and some don't. For more detail on this, check either the FAQ or the thread about making the most of your skills.

how close does the squad leader need to be to the group?

I think the range doesn't matter.. If I'm group leader, wherever you are the bonus's apply.. but I noticed they fixed Form Up (can no longer do it while dizzy) so I dunno anymore.

Passive bonuses work cross-galaxy. /rally require the SL to be within, I think, somewhere around 250m of the person. I have no idea about /formup, /retreat, /boostmorale or our numerous other skills (

), as I've never been too far from my squad.

To get xp, you must remain close. Within, I think, somthing like 250m.

I seem to remember /rally having a 75m effectiveness range...I might be wrong on that. /retreat works planet wide, as does /boostmorale, but I thought /formupwas 75m, though it's been a while...
