I've been reading the forums here, and I'm now considering adding some SL skills to my main.
However, I'm currently aiming for a Master Pistoleer/Master Creature Handler. Doing that gives me most of the SL trees. I just need to add Survival, which I've already mostly maxed out while pursueing Scout. Basically, I'm wondering if it's worth the 14 points of survival (I'd likely keep survival II at least, even if I didn't go SL, since my associates lack any type of ranger), then the 6 novice. If I do that, I end up with 9 pointsI could put in to SL, giving me 2 boxes in something.
I plan to be running in hunting groups fairly often, so it seems like the benefits would be useful. But it also seems like SL is something best mastered and focused on. Is it worth sticking my feet in, or should I just stick those points in to something like master scout (meh) or medic or the like?
I'd rather have the opinions of SL's on this, rather than Scouts, since you guys have a much better understanding of how SL really works...

Wow, tough choice. Novice SL or Novice Med.
Well, I'm a bit biased on this, but I would say go for SL, and pick up /formup and either /rally or melee defence.
If you do decide to do this, read the RAQ and Making the Most of Your Abilities threads at the top of the page, and become a master of the /sys command (granted at novice). Knowing that command goes a long way towards making you a good SL.
If you don't like SL, or don't think it's worth it once you get there, go for Med. Being able to toss a stim B in an emergency is always a great help.

you are biased about that guide, since you have a part in there...

If anyone's interested, I've decided to stick with Medic for that character - the ability to heal myself and my pets is just too useful, and then I can get the camp XP back.
Mainly that's because after spending a while reading the SL stuff, it seems like a pretty darn cool profession, and I'm going to use my char on another server to be a full on leader, rather than just dabbling - y'all get me interested enough to pursue it full time.
