Thread: What kind of Groups and PAs are you in?

I'm interested in hearing about what sorts of groups and PAs squad leaders gravitate to. Just for some conversation, I think it's relevent sine we are "the" grouping profession.

For groups: Do you do groups mostly for creature hunting? Against what creatures and/or on what planets? Missions or just wandering for targets? Do you do faction missions? Theme parks? Places like tusken fort?

For PAs: What characteristics attract you to a PA? Do you prefer PvP oriented? PvM? Roleplay? Crafting/economic? Militaristic in nature?Strict? Laid back? No PA?

For myself... I hang around on Naboo mostly. It's not an advanced planet by any stretch, but I like the scenery (especially around Deeja Peak) and it's a good place to meet people, which I'm still doing. I can find pickup teams fairly easily by leading new players and crafters on some destroy missions, or just getting together with friends for the same. Alot of the people I team with are doing missions mostly for the money.

I haven't joined a PA yet. I'm considering joining a roleplaying-oriented PA, but most of the people who've joined it already are crafters or entertainers and so I'm not sure if I'd be an asset to them, except as a source of hides and bones, mission cash, and bodyguarding when doing harvester runs. While that is something... I do kind of like the idea of actually leading squads of combat-trained guildmates in battle and on big game safaris on exotic planets.

I lead a group affectionately known as "The Naritus Beatdown Squad" or NBS. Its not a PA, its simply what I call the pool of players from whom I can invite to create a hunting group at any given time.

I formed this group a few weeks ago by posting on my server forum that I was looking for the very best characters and very best players to form a regular hunting group that would make expeditions to the adventure planets.

You can see how that went, here: http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Naritus&message.id=776

Drawing from that list of applicants, I sent out /tells to invite a few people to join a hunt each night, trying to keep the group sizes from 6 to 8.

Over a few days, the people who had been in my groups were posting on the forums quite a bit about how much fun they had, and a stampede was on.

Now I have a list of 50+ people who want to join NBS. I usually just invite the people who I know are quality, which means having to tell a lot of people "No, sorry" but I have been trying out some new people this week, and they will become regular additions to be sure.

We are a PvE squad, as you can tell by the motto in my signature. We tackle the adventure planets. We "wander" to find targets most of the time.

PAs have yet to interest me in SWG yet because I value my independence greatly, and cannot see a benefit that a PA could provide me that would outweigh my loss of freedom and gained obligations.

I am one of the Founders of Vagabond's Rest, the large multi-PA city on Rori (Starsider). I'm not in a PA. (Well, technically, I'm in the VR PA, which we formed for administrative purposes as a temporary means to erect a city hall (PA Hall) until cities are coded).

I haven't been in a rush toadvance my skills. The first few weeks, I spent agreat deal of my timeas a (Helper), assisting VR players who weren't in beta with the mechanics of the game. Now that we have a large group of players that are familiar withthe game, have gained sufficient skill to survive, and have moved out to VR,I'm putting together nightlygroups to clear the land of dangerous creatures around our city. I'm basically taking all comers at this point, trying to teach everyone a little about tactical combat. Some people are more receptive than others...

I've deliberately avoided much traveling to this point, as I don't want to spoil things for myself later. However, I'm an explorer by nature, so eventually I'll want to traverse every meter of the galaxy. I'm pursuing squad leader as much because it fits my character as it fits my playstyle.

So, thus far I've focused on PvE vs. creatures with friends/pickup groups. In the future, I expect to limit the people I group with to those I know I can rely on, tackle the adventure planets, and move into PvE vs. NPCs. Eventually, I have plans to form a PA and join a faction, but I don't know how much PvP I'll get into.

I am not in a PA yet. I have six regular traveling companions and we are working toward forming a PA in the near future.

The don't have a name yet. Some idea's haev been thrown around but nothing has stuck yet. At this point we don't even know where we are going to be based. It doesn't help that one of our members is out this week and I am out allnext week.

My character is Nilanna Krynnin, Vigo of the Eclipse Consortium on Tatooine (Starsider). The Eclipse Consortium is a criminal organization PA headquartered south of Mos Taike. Nilanna is very much a "team player" and a leader of our PA. Squad Leader was the natural choice as a Profession since they did away with Politician.

I lack a bunch of Ranged Support Combat exp before I reach Novice Squad Leader. Stay tuned...
