Thread: So... what's everyone wearing? ^^

Playstyles vary of course but I'm wondering what other SL's and would-be SL's are wearing clothes/armor wise?

Personally I'm not using armor, but am going for kind of a paramilitary scout look for now. As more tailors develop their skills and more clothing options and colors become available I'd like to have a number of uniforms - field uniforms and formal uniforms, for example.

What are other peoples' experience? Have you found armor to be a requirement? I'm doing fine without it so far.

Squad Leaders should be wearing VERY little armor, and what they wear should be maximized for low encumberance.

As a Mon Calamari, I have a very distinctive look:

- Sunguard hat
- Gunman's Duster
- Bandolier
- Belt, pants, shirt
- Mabari Boots (I like their look, and they offer pretty decent protection for really low encumberance)
- Carbine

That look does not look as well on other species, but I get comments constantly on my appearance, and I feel I look like a badass

I wanted to join a faction and get some faction outfits but man, faction overt stuff is so restrictive. You can't trade/gethealed or do practically anything with non faction members. EVEN NEUTRALS!

Pikeman : The only class that couldn't hit the ground if they dropped their weapon.
Pikeman : Doing massive damage; to the air surrounding our target.
Pikeman : You're dead meat, unless you happen to be standing in front of us.
Pikeman : Because the devs were one profession short.
DEVs : Pikeman? Thats a class?

As always, different play styles beget different answers; here is mine:

I play in an all Imperial group. We range in numbers from 10 to 20 at any given time. However, we fight a very smart group of Rebels, and guess what, they know to look for that <Novice Squad Leader> tag under your name. Kill the head, and the body dies kind of thing... or in this case, kill the Squad Leader and remove all the passive group bonuses instantly.

This being the case, I typically run around in the best energy absorb armor money can buy. I bought my first piece of storm trooper armor this Wednesday (boots), and plan on getting a full suit until a few armor smiths are high enough for composite armor/personal shield gen manufacture.

In my faction PvP world, blaster protection is king, and not wearing a helmet to protect that head against mind pool attacks gets you what you deserve...incap'd in 1 shot.

- no headgear, but I'm looking for a good helmet to buy sometime.
Torso: whitish reinforced jacket over blue dress shirt, and with a multipocket bandolier on top (though sometimes a travel pack if needed) and a two-pocket black belt.
Pants: brown casual pants, haven't found any better ones.
Shoes: gray casual shoes, see above.

I like my look, but it'll likely change once I get some good armor.

Is it better for Squad Leaders to not wear armor?

Having not gotten up to SL yet, I'm only going from what I've read and heard. But it seems that several SL specials are pretty pool intensive, so I would think that encumberance would present a big issue. I plan on doing nothing more than perhaps a lightweight energy-deflecting helmet, and just staying towards the back/out of the way.

I'm hoping that in PvP, the helmet might make the enemy riflemen choose other targets first (not knowing that I'm the SL, of course), too.

Ah, thanks. So I take it you'd have to disignate someone else to do the pulling if you're not going to be wearing any armor.

Full body armor seems necessary. If you're missing pieces, you're going to be a PvP target regardless of what else you are or what else you're doing because you stand out. If style is why you're not wearing it....

Full body armor? You're kidding, right? Give the newbies in full bone a couple weeks to figure out that they're probably better off without it, or at least without most of it, and you won't be standing out. Seriously, armor involves some huge tradeoffs, for moderate protection against a few stats. Pick and choose it wisely, this isn't a game designed for full suits of shining armor to be the norm.

Question: Why not turn off the tag if rebels are reading it, or better still use one of the other title open to you?

Still climbing up the hill to SL, as Tradoshian it will be a challenge but I did not buy the game to be the cookie cutter character following the herd, so we will see.

Wearing:
In my field pack is a complete set of bone and mabari, but when laying back in the support role (using my support weapons skills to keep the critters at range) I like to wear my new "garrison uniform".

Desert Command Jacket
Dark green wor pants
Mabari Helmet (which looks good on a lizard)
Carbine

As a tradoshian I have no glove or bot options but my HUGE green eyes really look like sun glasses with this outfit.

Welps, I'm set up with a full set of chitin and a military pack for the field, and just regular casual garb for n the town... Since my character's a human female she's set with a white sports wrap and an off-white/wrap of pink pleated skirt. I know its basic level stuff.. but I just really like the outdoorsie look =oP

plus in town she looks rockin with her Ryyk blade equiped
=o)
