Thread: An Idea: A Second in Command Skill
Since the servers are down at the moment, I was thinking a little about a new and a rather interesting possibility for a Squad Leader skill. It deals with thefuture problem that may soon arise; the problem being two Squad Leaders in the same group.
What I suggest is that for a tier 3/4 skill the senior Squad
Well I hate it when that happens, my enter key got suck and *BAM* this topic got posted.
Anywho, what I suggest is that for a tier 3/4 skill the senior Squad Leader would be able to appoint one junior squad leader as second in command of the group. What this would enable is during the unfortunate event that the senior SL falls in combat (incapacitation or good old death), the one second in command will be able to take control and act as the new leader.
This would enable the junior Squad Leader to use his skills, and gain himself some experience.
Perhaps by also appointing a second in command could allow both Squad Leaders to share the SL experience while grouped (after, of course, a new SL experience system is in the works); this new deputy leader feature would allow the junior SL to learn how to lead a squad effectivelyby witnessing the actions of the experienced SL.
Wishful Thinking:
Perhaps a master Squad Leader could get the ability that when he appoints a junior SL as the second in command; the group limit could be extended from twenty members to twenty five or above. You could even go futher in this idea to allow a Master Squad Leader to become a platoon leader; with multiple squad leaders taking charge of their squads. Now its going a bit too far, but would be a cool feature nonetheless and a great asset to PvP.
I like the idea of a Master Squad Leader being able to lead Platoons of individual groups/squads each led by a squad leader. But I'm not so sure about the second in command thing. I think part of becoming a Squad Leader should require the honing of your actual ability to step up, get people to join you and actually be a leader. To me, the idea of a Squad LeaderNOT being in commandis oxymoronic (unless the person he's not in command of is the Platoon Leader, and he has a squad of his own that he commands).
