Thread: About Squad Leader (initial reaction)
First off I know that a lot of the issues that I am going to talk about have already been stated (probably many times), but it will help me get over the aggrivation if I am allowed to vent for a bit.
Ever since I heard about the game I knew that I would be after the squad leader profession as leadership and hunting seem to fit me well. You can imagine my surprise after I learned the novice squad leaders skill today (after lots of hard work, missions, etc.) that this has to be one of the worst professions in the game. You gain experience by the way YOU kill stuff in battle -- what does this have to do with leadership? I had a group of 4 people doing a total of 16 (2 each -- 2 rounds) imperial missions -- after all this was done I had 5,120 squad leader XP -- how much slower can it be? You do not get any initial skills that are usefull when you first learn the profession (why do you even need sysmessage anyway most people have system messages turned off to begin with - I know I do) As of so far I really regret choosing this profession as I have waisted a lot of time getting here only to find out it has got to be the hardest profession in the game to get better at with the worst benefit (taking this from reading other posts about the HAM usage when using abilities) Something has got to give with this profession. For starters the XP needs to be redone and easier to get (or at least deal with the actual profession -- why would you killing somethign have anything to do with getting leadership ability -- stated once again) You should get XP when you complete a mission, you should get XP when you help or assist another group member, you should get XP (even small amounts) based on your group members actions (hunting, etc..) as well as from using your special abilities.
It would be good for Squad leaders tohave better standing with their faction (earn more fp, or able to get faction perks that others are not allowed) Since most squad leaders will be a strong member in a given faction it should just be innate that the squad leader would have much more respect from their chosen faction (maybe the ability to check out faction pets at a reduced cost or the ability to control more faction pets at the same time) I could see a master squad leader running around with 5 storm troopers heading intoa rebel facility *smiles*
that is all for now.
