Thread: Suggestion on Squad Leader
A sticky on outstanding issues/enhancement requestswould be nice. That way I won't be repeating what other are saying. If I did, my apology.
Enhancement to Squad Leader which would make people want to be led by a Squad Leader.
Be able to have waypoint point be visible to all group members.
Be able to select a target which other group member see as highlighted (eg an effective Volley Fire)--though they will still have to select that target manually.
Be able to create waypoint on map and send waypoint to all group members(eg gather at this waypoint. If we need to retreat, retreat to that waypoint).
Stacking Squad Leaders. For example, a "section" of4 playersled by one squad leader. Then a group of 3 "section" lead by a higher lvl Squad Leader (say platoon leader), so go on. So a group of with a "platoon" leader and3 section led by squad leader would be much more effective than a group of 20. (read, be like the real-life military command and control structure).
This also allow more better coordinated attacks (one section is the bait, one section is the anvil, and the last section the hammer). Or you can have a "scout" section, a "heavy" section, and an "infantry" section. Regardless, group led by a couple of squad leaders should be better than one without.
Now if a squad leader have these abilities, more people would want to have a squad leader lead their groups. It's not unbalancing--group without SL can perform all the same tasks a group with SL. Only different it'll be easier and faster with SL (hence the profession "SQUAD LEADER").
1) WP visible to all group members? With the exception of mission WP all you have to do is send a email to all members of your group or give the coordinates of it and let them /waypoint xxxx xxxx. As far as mission WP go you can go to the map and rightclick on mission WP and it gives the option to create WP or it used to. Do this and then email it to all group members. Simple and already doable by anyone.
2) SL selected targets visible to whole group via highlight/brackets? This is not needed as long as you designate one person as the assist and have EVERYONE /assist them. If you want the target to be designated by the SL then have the designated person assist off the SL to start the fight. As soon as the main assist enters combat everybody hits /assist and then clicks any open area without a target. This will automatically enter the current target you are assisting on into the target window for specials and such. Again simple and already doable by anyone.
3) Refer to #1 above.
4) Stacking SL? Not sure what branch you were/are in or if you were/are even in any, but in the AF a 4 person team is a Fire team. If you have more then 1 fire team you have a squad (2-4 fire teams). The next step is 2-4 squads is a Flight and 2-5 flights is a squadron. The next step here becomes a Group. There is no reason that this type of structure can't be done by you and your PA. Asking the devs to let us stack SL abilities will not and should not happen. If you want to have "sectionS" to do specific jobs then great that is all on you.
To finish up this little thing. WHERE DID YOU LEARN ENGLISH? I am talking about how your grammar is MORE BETTER then mine.
I was actually talking to some others on Bria about this very thing.
My post there:
Also I'm going to post some ideas on the Squad Leader boards about mission acceptance and waypoints. It'd be nice if SL's could accept 2 missions for each member of their group, as that members missions, or that a group in which the SL was the leader, he would get a copy of the mission (and when you leave the group, your missions go with you, out of his datapad).
This is necessary. We tried the whole finding the waypoint, sending to the leader and hm making the waypoint. WAY too much work, and the wp's tend to be off a bit. There is no way to make these things accurate from the planetary map. We were on Lok and I (leader) had a WP on the side of a hill with 5 lairs all around it! I couldn't tell which on was the target and two of them had respawning aggros...that's when all hell broke loose. Turns out the acutal mission wp was on the next hill... and yes, we used zoom on the planetary map.
The rally/retreat point is not necessary, the /waypoint xxxx xxxx command works great for this, but for missions it is just not effective.
Also, a 'Set Harvester' or something would also be good. This allows the SL to set and change the only person(s) in the group allowed to harvest at that time. Obviously this could be a rotating thing, but would really help the ninja harvesting and map a rotation a whole lot easier to coordinate.
Also, the /assist doesn't work too well when everyone is /assist on the leader and someone gets aggroed, so the above suggestion of having a highlighted target of group members would be helpful...base it on the level of the SL for how many different members he can see the targets of at one time and he can earmark them on his group list (menu option). Can have targeting box in a different colour for each group member.
